Magnificent mountains, the calming peace of the lake, a mild and healthy climate, and wonderfully refreshing alpine air. Bled is a well-known alpine resort which manages to retain its natural charm alongside its lively tourist hustle and bustle. Bled golf course is the oldest in Slovenia, dating back to 1937. It is said by many to be one of the most beautiful courses in Europe. Covering more than 100 hectares with two courses designed by Donald Harradine, it is also the biggest in Slovenia. It is a challenge to new golfers and professionals alike, while Bled’s unique natural environment, crowned by Stol, the highest mountain in the Karavanke mountain range, and the special nature of the course offer plenty of excitement for everyone. As well as two courses, the 18-hole King’s Course and the 9-hole Lake Course, Bled Golf Course also features a driving range for long and short play and a pitching and putting green. Golfers can develop their game or freshen up their skills with the help of experienced golf instructors. There is also a golf equipment and clothing shop, and equipment may be rented on the course. The course hosts many tournaments, including the PGA European Challenge Tour. It is also a setting for numerous other events and is a starting point for excursions to enrich the stay of golfers and their family members. LJUBLJANA SMLEDNIK (18) Ljubljana golf course offers everything golfers expect: wonderfully arranged and maintained course with 18 holes, with special emphasis on the greens, fairways and teeing areas, excellently equipped golf academy (individual lessons, group training, youth schools, video analysis of the swing, golf fitness analysis, calibration of golf clubs); a friendly and professional relationship with guests; a pleasant environment on and alongside the course; a top-level restaurant; a well supplied store with golf products; and especially, a long, diverse and dynamic course, at a length of 6,200 m. OTOČEC (18) Otočec is famous for its pearl of medieval castle architecture, the Otočec Castle, which is situated on an islet in the middle of the Krka River. Lately, it has become known for its offer of unforgettable experiences for sports, nature, recreation and golf fans. The first nine holes were built in 2005 and 2006. Since June 2009, the championship golf course has 18 holes BOOKING & INFORMATION: Panoramic DMC • Stegne 11a • 1000 Ljubljana • Slovenia • Europe info@panoramic-dmc.com • phone: +386 1 600 43 00 • fax: +386 1 600 43 25 • www.panoramic-dmc.com for golfers to play on. The 75-plus-hectare golf course is situated along the emerald river Krka, close to the famed Otočec Castle. The state-of-the-art golf course was designed to the highest industry standards by British architect Howard Swan, who exhibited a keen sense of the game and the natural scenery. One of the country's longest golf courses is suitable for high-ranking professional and amateur golfers and beginners alike. MOKRICE (18) Set in the hilly landscape of Slovenia’s Dolenjska region, nestling amid parkland in the lee of the stunning, medieval Mokrice Castle, with far-reaching views of the surrounding vineyards and countryside, the Golf Course Castle Mokrice offers beginners and experienced golfers alike plenty of opportunities to enjoy a variety of challenges on its lush, tranquil greens. Designed by architect Donald Harradine, the 70 hectare golf course has 18 expertly planned greens that provide a diverse and enjoyable game. Each hole has been specifically designed to test the golfer with different skills, but the Par 4, fifth hole will challenge even the most experienced golfer. It is Mokrice’s most difficult and many claim, one of the most testing in Europe. A clean tee-off and a drive of at least 200 metres down the fairway is essential to stand the chance of reaching the green with the second shot. With a fairly narrow fairway, a slope to the left and a water hazard to the right, ultimate success is down to the skill, or maybe luck, of the player on the day. ARBORETUM (18) The Arboretum Volčji Potok golf course is situated in a picturesque landscape in the midst of pine forest, among ponds and other natural beauties. The view of the Kamniške Alps, combined with a nearby Arboretum Volčji Potok, guarantee a remarkable experience and a diverse 18 hole course presents quite a challenge even for the best players. There are also four extra practice greens and a training ground for those who want to improve their game. The center of social activities and the heart of the court is a club house by the 9th green, facing an artificial lake. The season starts in the middle of March and lasts up to the middle of November. The course is 5,452 meters long, par 71, sss 71. The first nine holes were opened in 1998, and the course was extended to eighteen holes in 2002. The result is Ptuj does not lack sights that guests can enjoy whilst on a pleasant walk through the old town centre. A most favourable impression is certainly made by the BOOKING & INFORMATION: Panoramic DMC • Stegne 11a • 1000 Ljubljana • Slovenia • Europe info@panoramic-dmc.com • phone: +386 1 600 43 00 • fax: +386 1 600 43 25 • www.panoramic-dmc.com immense medieval castle, today reorganized into a museum, in which visitors can re-live the history of Ptuj. Ptuj Golf Course has often won the flattering title of being the best arranged golf course in Slovenia. Take care, it is known for its many traps. The players are confronted with water obstacles at most of the holes and so the best rounds are achieved with accurate shots not powerful strokes. Golfers especially remember the 14th hole where par 3 can only be achieved with a stroke onto the island. The course itself is not too demanding, although players will have to take special pains to achieve a good result when playing from the professional tees. Due to its configuration the course does not demand perfect physical fitness and is also suitable for amateur golfers, who can easily concentrate on the play as well as the rich indigenous flora and fauna. Special attention should be given to the birds whose characteristics are described on information boards located at the tees.
