THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me EMILY FRANCES VICTORIA MORRY, of St. John’s, in the
Island of Newfoundland, Nurse.
FIRST – I revoke all former Wills and Testamentary dispositions by me at any time made and I appoint
the Eastern Trust Company the Executor of this my Will.
SECOND – I give, devise and bequeath the following sums of money, namely: - (a)
To the Masonic
Organization known as the Tasker Educational Fund the sum of Ten thousand dollars in memory of my
late brother-in-law William N. Gray, to be applied in such manner as the Committee of Management of
the said Fund shall in their sole deem discretion but I would suggest that a scholarship or scholarships be
created from the said Fund and be called the William N. Gray Scholarship or Scholarships. This
suggestion is not meant to limit in any way the right of the Committee to deal with the Fund as they may
deem desirable. (b)
To the Trustee or Committee of Management of the Old Ladies Home of St.
John’s the sum of Five hundred dollars to be expended by them in such manner as they in their sole
discretion may deem desirable for the use and benefit of the said Home. (c)
To the Permanent
Marine Disasters Fund the sum of One thousand dollars. (d)
To the President and Secretary of the
Girls Friendly Society of St. John’s the sum of Two thousand dollars to be expended by them in such
manner as they in their sole discretion may seem desirable for the use and benefit of the said society.
(e)
To the Salvation Army of St. John’s the sum of Five hundred dollars. (f) To the Trustees or
Committee of Management of the Church of England Orphanages of St. John’s the sum of One thousand
dollars, Five hundred dollars to be applied for the benefit of the Girl’s Orphanage and the remaining Five
hundred dollars for the benefit of the Boy’s Orphanage. The manner of the expenditure of the said sum
shall be in the sole discretion of the said Trustees or Committee of Management. (g)
To the Trustees
or Committee of Management of the Roman Catholic Orphanages of St. John’s the sum of One thousand
dollars, Five hundred dollars to be applied for the benefit of the Belvedere Orphanage and the
remaining Five hundred dollars for the benefit of Mount Cashel Orphanage. The manner of the
expenditure of the said sum shall be in the sole discretion of the said Trustees or Committee of
Management. (h)
To the Directors of the Church of England Colleges and their successors in office
in St. John’s the sum of Four thousand dollars, Two thousand dollars of which is to be applied for the
benefit of Bishop Spencer College and the remaining Two thousand for the benefit of Bishop Field
College. (i)
To the Trustees of the Fund in St. John’s known as the Red Cross Fund, (which fund was
created by the late Sheriff Carter and the Trustees at present are His Lordship the Bishop of
Newfoundland Rev. Canon J. A. Meaden and Earl S. Pinsent, Solicitor) the sum of Ten thousand dollars to
be applied by the said Trustees in such manner as they in their sole discretion may deem fit and proper
towards the objects of the said Fund. (j) To the Rector and Church Wardens of the Cathedral Church of
St. John the Baptist the sum of Ten thousand dollars to be applied by them in such manner as they in
their sole discretion may deem fit and proper towards the repairs of the said Cathedral. (k)
To the
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals the sum of Five hundred dollars. (l)
To the Trustees
or Committee of Management of Queen’s College of St. John’s aforesaid, the sum of Five hundred
dollars to be applied by the said Trustees or Committee of Management in such manner as they in their
sole discretion may deem fit for the use and benefit of the said Queen’s College. (m)
To Ethel Smith
daughter of the late Rev. Canon Smith the sum of Three thousand dollars. (n) To Florence Morry, my
sister, the sum of One thousand dollars. (o)
To W. W. Gray of Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia, a
cousin of my late brother-in-law William N. Gray, the sum of One thousand dollars, should however the
said W. W. Gray predecease me then I give the bequest in his favour to be divided equally between such
of his children as shall be living at my death, if only one the whole to that one. (p)
To the Trustees
or Managers of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind of Newfoundland I give and bequeath the
sum of One thousand dollars to be applied by them for the use and benefit of the Blind of
Newfoundland in such manners as they in their sole discretion may deem proper.
I declare that a receipt from the Secretary or Treasurer of the above named
organisations shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor for the said legacies.
THIRD – I give devise and bequeath my dwelling house and premises situate on the North side of Gower
Street, No. 142, to the said Ethel Smith, for her absolute use and benefit for ever.
FOURTH – I give, devise and bequeath the sum of One thousand dollars to my said Executor to apply the
income, dividends and profits arising therefrom towards the upkeep and maintenance of the graves of
my late brother-in-law William N. Gray and of his wife Jane Josephine Gray and of my own grave in the
Church of England Cemetery. Should the income be more than sufficient for this purpose my said
Executor shall be empowered to pay the balance into the general funds of the said Cemetery.
FIFTH – I hereby authorise my said Executor to purchase and place at the head of my grave as suitable
monument the cost of which should not exceed Three hundred dollars.
SIXTH – All the rest, residue and remainder of my property of whatsoever nature and wheresoever
situate, after paying all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give and bequeath to the
Permanent Marine Disasters Fund of Newfoundland, in addition to the bequest already made in its
favour.
IN WITNESS WHEROF I have hereunto set my hand at St. John’s, aforesaid, this 15th day of
January Anno Domini One thousand Nine hundred and Forty-three.

THIS IS A CODICIL TO THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me EMILY FRANCES VICTORIA MORRY of St.
John’s in the Island of Newfoundland, Nurse, dated the 11th day of January, Anno Domini, One thousand
Nine hundred and Forty-three.
FIRST – I direct my executor to sell my used and unused postage stamps and to apply the proceeds of
such sale towards any fund which my said Executor may deem fit and proper for the benefit of returned
soldiers from the present war.
SECOND – In all other respects I confirm my said Will.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF: I have hereunto set my hand at St. John’s, aforesaid,
this 22 day of March Anno Domini, One thousand Nine hundred and Forty-four.

This is my Codicil to the Last Will and Testament of me, EMILY FRANCES
VICTORIA MORRY of 142 Tower St., St. John’s, Newfoundland, Spinster, and at present visiting in
Melvern Square, in the County of Annapolis, in the Province of Nova Scotia.
I hereby revoke the bequest of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.) in my Will to
WRAYFORD GRAY, in its entirety, and substitute therefor, the following bequest: - ….
I give and bequeath to REGINALD D. MELVIN of Melvern Square. In the County
of Annapolis, in the Province of Nova Scotia, Farmer, the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.) for his
sole use and benefit, absolutely…………………………..
