HERITAGE TRANSPORT SHOW RELEASE MARCH 2014 Kent Farmers’ Market set to join the Show The Heritage Transport Show and South East Bus Festival will take place on Saturday 5th April at the Kent Event Centre, Detling Maidstone. The event in its fifth year, opens to the public at 10.00 am and will host a Farmers’ Market for the first time. Kent’s Artisan Producer of the year, Kent Fine Foods based in Gillingham, will be part of the Farmers’ Market at this year’s Heritage Transport Show. Eighteen other producers will join the award winner, crowned at The Taste of Kent Awards on Thursday 13th March. Lucy Hegarty, event organiser said “the Show has become very popular over the past few years with families who come along to see the vehicles as well as taking a nostalgic ride on one of the vintage buses. The market will add a new element and allow visitors to taste and buy a wonderful selection of local Kentish produce and products”. The stalls will include, homemade sausage rolls and pasties, Kentish beer, preserves, bread and cakes, pies, apple products, game and Kent Fine Foods award winning chutneys and jam. The event will also host 12 owners clubs including the Ford Anglia 10SE, Ford Capri, Jaguar Drivers Club and the Friends of Ferguson Heritage. The clubs will be 1 joined by over 400 exhibitors and 70 buses. The South East Bus Festival will have a large area on the Kent Event Centre site where visitors can see the wonderful collection of restored buses and coaches, stands selling bus related books, photos and collectables, slide show presentations and a collection of model buses. Entry includes the opportunity to listen to guest speakers in the large Clive Emson Conference Centre. Richard Delahoy will give a presentation at 11am about the rise and fall of the Southend x1 service. Roger Davies will speak at 12.30pm on the lifelong people and events that have influenced his career with buses. The final presentation will be made by James Freeman at 2.15pm, James will concentrate on his experience as Chief Executive Officer of Reading Buses and winning ‘2013 Shire Operator of the year’ at the UK Bus Awards. Kent Youth Trials Group will be taking part in displays throughout the day using the purpose built trails course at the showground and the South Coast Landrover club will be running the 4x4 experience track. Maidstone Model Engineering and Kent Area 16mm Group will also have displays. One of the highlights for visitors is free bus journeys around the Kent Showground. Passengers will be able to alight at a number of special bus stops around the site and reminisce about journeys from their youth or to share the experience with new generations. A selection of veteran and vintage buses will run every five minutes.
