Alessandra Jerolleman, MPA, CFM
Alessandra Jerolleman is the founder and Executive Director of the Natural Hazard Mitigation
Association (NHMA). She is also a Program Specialist in the Gulf Coast with Save the Children USA,
working on a resilience initiative around children’s needs in emergencies. She currently serves as one of
the Tri-Chairs for the National Hazard Mitigation Collaborative Alliance, sits on the board of the Greater
New Orleans Disaster Recovery Partnership, and sits on the Executive Committee of the American
Society of Public Administration’s Section on Emergency and Crisis Management. She is the co-author of
a textbook, “Natural Hazard Mitigation,” which will be published by CRC Press in late 2011. Ms.
Jerolleman has acquired wide-ranging experience in the private, non-profit, and academic sectors.

Hazard Mitigation

Plan development and Steering Committee facilitation for hazard mitigation planning of local
and state level mitigation planning efforts

Site assessments to determine vulnerabilities and develop mitigation actions for multiple
jurisdictions and universities.

Community education and outreach regarding hazard mitigation in communities who struggle
with repetitive loss from natural hazard events.

Delivery of training and education to stakeholders regarding mitigation planning, multijurisdictional coordination, community education and outreach.
