Dear Basketball Candidates:
Welcome to Ereckson Middle School Basketball. We are glad that your athlete is interested in
becoming a part of our program. Those athletes with all valid paperwork will begin going through
an evaluation process to determine if you can contribute as a player in a highly competitive district.
If your athlete does not have an athletic physical on file with the Ereckson athletic department for
this school year (2014-2015) they will need to get one or he will not be able try-out. This is an
AISD policy that we must follow for your athletes’ safety. AISD physical packets available at

Try outs will be held for the 7th grade on Thursday Nov. 6th through Thursday Nov 13th. The 8th
grade try outs will be Thursday Nov. 6th through Thursday Nov. 13th. We will have an A, B, and C
team for both grades, 10 players on each team.

Each athlete will need to come to try outs in shorts, t-shirt, and athletic shoes. Please wait to
purchase any basketball shoes until team members are announced.
All 7th grade try outs will be in the morning beginning promptly at 7:00am. Please be at the gym at
least 15 minutes before try outs begin. 7th grade try outs will end at 8:10am to allow students time
to get ready for first period. 8th grade students will report to the gym for try outs immediately after
school (3:30pm) and will be over at 5:00pm. Everyone that is trying out must sign up, attend
all the days of try outs and you Must Be Passing All Classes at the end of the 1st nine weeks
to try out.
It is a very difficult and challenging task for our coaching staff and we realize that decisions of this
sort are not always popular. We understand the effects we can have on children’s lives, and do not
take this process lightly. We will evaluate players using years of experience and expertise, and ask
that decisions be accepted with dignity and grace. We want to put together the best team we can.
Monday Nov. 10th we will be making initial cuts for 7th grade in the morning and after school for
the 8th grade. Final cuts to determine the team will be made on Thursday Nov 13th with the 7th
grade in the morning and 8th grade after school.
The athletes will be put through a series of offensive and defensive drills to show his abilities in the
fundamentals in the game of basketball. Try outs are closed and parents will not be allowed to be
in the gym during try outs.

through any evaluation process. We share your love of basketball and wish you the best in this
endeavor.
