Criteria
High school student entering into first year at
York University Canadian citizen or landed
immigrant of Portuguese descent/descendent of
a Lusophone nation and/or an international
student of Lusophone origin
Will attend York University .Have a minimum
average in their graduation year of 75%. Have
volunteered in at least 3 extracurricular activities
while in high school.
The A & A Monti award celebrates the best
writing by a graduating student. It
recognizes and celebrates creativity and the
highest standard of excellence in writing
combining, qualities of the heart, mind and
spirit. The candidate must be an ECSS
graduating student and have completed at
least five [5] English courses. The
candidate will have to demonstrate the
qualities of this award and possess its
essence. The candidate must complete an
entry form and adhere to the rules and
regulations of the contest.
Given to outstanding young people who
have demonstrated excellence in
academics, athletics, the arts, community
services or innovation. Applicants must be
of Chinese heritage, Canadian citizens or
landed immigrants who feel that they have
overcome challenges or hardships.
African Canadian students who are
Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
There is a wide range of awards that are
based on academics, financial need, and/or
contributions to the Black Community.

Criteria
Every year up to six Aboriginal students will
receive this award for their creative writing
talent. Creative pieces may include, but are not
limited to short stories, poems, essays, plays, or
songs and must be original work created by the
student. Students must be 18 years of age or
under, submit an original creative writing piece
that has not in any part been copied from any
source, self identify as being Aboriginal, be a
student enrolled in a school and a permanent
resident in Ontario.
