TEXT 1: Our protagonist is an ogre named Shrek (voice of Mike Myers, using a Scottish accent). (…)
Shrek leads a relatively peaceful life, until the day that he stumbles into Donkey (voice of Eddie Murphy).
Donkey is fleeing soldiers who are rounding up all the fairy-tale creatures with the intent of resettling
them. Unfortunately for Shrek, the local landholder, Lord Farquaad, has decided to deport them to
Shrek’s swamp*. This causes the irritated ogre, accompanied by his new best friend Donkey, to head for
the city of Duloc, where Farquaad holds court. There, he makes a deal with the noble – in return for
getting back his swamp, Shrek will perform a quest and rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from the
tower where she is held prisoner. The catch: she’s guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. Farquaad wants
Fiona for his wife and figures that the ogre might be his best chance to rescue her.

TEXT 2: Shrek, voiced by Myke Myers, is a cantankerous ogre who lives defiantly alone in a swamp,
where his main recreation consists in scaring off unwelcome intruders. But Shrek’s hermit-like routine is
spoiled, thanks to an edict by the wicked - and decidedly small – Lord Farquaad, who has banished all the
fairy- tale creatures from his kingdom. Suddenly, the swamp is overrun with dwarfs, sleeping beauties,
wooden boys, big bad wolves and nervous little pigs. Shrek also finds himself saddled with a persistent
new sidekick, a brash talking donkey with the voice of Eddie Murphy.
Furious, the ogre journeys to Farquaad’s castle, where he displays his impressive fighting prowess in a
public tournament. Shrek and Farquaad make a deal: the Lord will revoke his edict if the ogre rescues the
lovely Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from the fire-breathing dragon keeping her prisoner and brings her
back to be his bride. After several close calls, Shrek captures the Princess, but the fair maiden has a
devastating secret that will surely displease the ill-tempered Farquaad.
TEXT 3: Set in a strange, colorful land populated by fairy tale characters, Shrek is a hilarious comedy
that will win over audiences of children and adults alike. Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) is a fearsome
green ogre living in isolation in his own cozy little swamp. He is not receptive to visitors (…) and when
the power-hungry Lord Farquaad turns Shrek’s swamp into a relocation camp for dozens of banished
fairy-tale characters (…), Shrek’s quiet, introverted life is ruined. Joined by the talkative Donkey (Eddie
Murphy), Shrek makes his way to Farquaad’s realm of Duloc, where the Lord makes Shrek an offer: he
will rid Shrek’s land of the unwanted visitors if Shrek will go on a simple quest to free Princess Fiona
(Cameron Diaz) from her remote, dragon-guarded castle and convince her to marry Farquaad. On their
quest, Shrek and Donkey run into a number of bizarre situations, and Shrek finds himself realizing that he
isn’t quite the fearsome monster he has always made himself out to be. Reinventing the traditional fairy
tale adventure, Shrek features gorgeous computer animation, a unique sense of humor and compelling
characters (…)
TEXT 4: Shrek is an ogre who lives in a swamp surrounded by “keep out” and “beware the ogre!” signs.
He wants only to be left alone, perhaps because he is not such an ogre after all but merely a lonely
creature with an inferiority complex because of his ugliness. He is horrified when the solitude of his
swamp is disturbed by a sudden invasion of cartoon creatures, who have been banished from Lord
Farquaad’s kingdom. (…) The plot involves Lord Farquaad’s desire to wed Princess Fiona, and his
reluctance to slay the dragon that stands between her and would-be suitors. He hires Shrek to attempt the
mission, which Shrek is happy to do, providing the loathsome fairy-tale creatures are banished and his
swamp returns to its dismal solitude. On his mission, Shrek is joined by a donkey named the Donkey (…)
