Welcome to the Dragon City! Bendigo became known as the Dragon City due to the presence of Loong and Sun Loong, two Chinese imperial dragons who make their home in the Chinese museum. Sun Loong is the longest imperial dragon in the world and very much a part of the Easter celebrations in Bendigo, when he awakens and parades through the streets of Bendigo at the end of the precession. There is much noise, as fire crackers are let off to awaken him, and several smaller dragons dance and whirl in front of the star of the show. Welcome to the dragon city, enjoy your stay and best of luck in the ring. Dragon City Live will start at 10:00am sharp. Please ensure that you have any OF/CFT performance entries are on the table by that time. Doors will open at 7:30am. DCL is being run by Lucy Aburrow, please contact me on 0447667108 (after 4pm) or at stablemates@optusnet.com.au if you have any queries. Where is DCL? The show is to be held in the conference room at the Golden Hills Motel, 145 Marong Road, Bendigo Victoria 3550. Accommodation can also be booked at the motel with rooms ranging from $100 to $140 per night depending on occupancy. Please contact the motel on 54431333 to secure a room. Below is a far more accurate map than the hostess’s somewhat confusing attempts at directions. (image credit: http://goldenhillsmotel.com.au/location) Parking: There is parking to the front of the venue and also across the road at the Schweppes Centre. Transport to the show: Vline runs regular trains from Southern Cross Station, Melbourne to Bendigo Station. A time table can be found here: http://www.vline.com.au/pdf/timetables/bendigo.pdf. The first train leaving Southern Cross on Saturday is the 7:16 which gets in at 9:15. Other lines which connect to Bendigo station are the Echuca and Swan Hill lines. Some trains may actually be coaches (Vline runs both services) so please keep that in mind if you have a preference. Please get off the train at the Bendigo station; otherwise you’ll end up in Melbourne and make sure the service you are planning on travelling on actually stops in Bendigo (some, especially coaches don’t!) . Please ensure you are in the correct carriage as some are restricted to passengers travelling to Melbourne bound passengers only. Time tables can be found here: Echuca: http://www.vline.com.au/pdf/timetables/echuca.pdf/echuca Swan Hill: http://www.vline.com.au/pdf/timetables/swanhill.pdf/swanhill Bus services (also run by Vline) are another way to get to the city. Bendigo from Geelong (via Ballarat): http://www.vline.com.au/pdf/timetables/geelong_ballarat.pdf Please contact me if you require assistance figuring out your public transport needs, I’m only too happy to help. Transport can also be arranged from the station or bus stops to the venue but please contact the hostess on 0447667108 (after 4pm) or email (stablemates@optusnet.com.au) before to the 8th of August to arrange this. Food at the show: Catering is available by the venue, please indicate on the entry form if you are interested in catering. Catering for hot savouries, sandwiches and cake is $10.50 per person. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate (with marshmallows) will also be available. Those interested in other food will find Bendigo has plenty of options and is a quick five to ten minutes. See the map above for directions or ask the hostess or steward on the day if you are after something specific. Lunch break will be an hour long. (and be between divisions, at the hostess and stewards discretion) Raffle: We have some amazing items in the raffle (a big thankyou to all who donated) which will be drawn during lunch break. Tickets can be purchased either when entering or on the day. Tickets are priced at $1 each or $5 for 6. Tables: We have plenty of tables for everybody, please let know when entering if you require a small, medium or large table. Please ensure that all boxes, cases and other items are stored under tables to reduce trip hazards in the room. A blanket or rug to place over your table would also be a good idea. Sales from Tables: Feel free to sell things from your tables, there is no fee for this and the show hostess doesn’t mind as long as those selling are responsible for their own money/sales items/whatever. Entry information: There will be no on the day entries for DCL live, please ensure that you get your entries in before the 1st of August. Proxy Entries are permitted as long as they are organised with another entrant. The show hostess is not personally taking any proxy’s but will allow others to do so. Entry limits and restrictions: There is no limit to the number of horses you may enter into a class, please however, keep it manageable to yourself and be considerate of other showers (especially with trad/class size horses who take up a lot of table space). Horses may only enter one breed class and minis may not compete in the trad/classic classes or vice versa. Please note, all horses must be named to enter. Unnamed or –instertyourprefixhere-.Unnamed are not suitable names. Payment for entries: Entry fees are $1.00AUS per model (unlimited classes). Flat fee of $50.00 AUS for more than fifty models. Scene and tack entries are free but need their own number. Fees can be paid by either direct deposit (please ask for the account details), pay pal (please contact for email) or in cash via the post (though, the last one is at your own risk). Please submit entry fees with the entry form. Cash cannot be paid on the day. Divisions: Artist Resin (AR): Artist resin model horses. Custom (CM): Customised models (except CFT brands) which may have had any combination of the following repositioning, remaking, repainting, etching, rehairing, markings added, flocked and/or altered in anyway. Retouched models (with no added markings) may show as OFs. Hangtags and Explanation Cards: All models must have a hang tag with their entry number on one side, and gender, breed, age and colour on the other. Please ensure that the tag is placed on the table with the model’s entry number faced down, so the judge can read the information on the other side of the tag. Tags must not be bigger than 5cm by 7cm and need to be attached to the model (by cotton or other kinds of string) securely (best bet is around the fetlock) so they won’t fall off.
