Information point
Linda Willis came from Public Health in Milton Keynes to give the group
information about the role of public health. She explained what types of
things it works on which includes:
 On-going programmes such as health checks
 Preventative work such as stopping smoking
 Health visitors and family nurse partnerships for mothers of
children aged 0-5 years
 School nursing service for young people aged 5-19
 Services for young people such as Brook for sexual health and
COMPASS for drugs and alcohol
 A weight management service will be bought soon
 0-5 oral health team
Linda told the group that as the contracts for these services are all
coming to an end in 2018 they are considering planning a single point of
access for all young people’s services.
She then talked to the group about routes into jobs in public health.
The group thanked Linda for her time and agreed that the session was
very helpful. This feature will continue at future meetings.


The Management Board approved the Children and Young People’s
Strategy. Members were given a copy to put in their files. It is
also available on the website
The Management Board agreed to co-opt Amber as chair of the
YPHMK group onto the Board. It will need to be worked out how
Amber will be able to attend meetings
It is hoped that in future feedback from Amber will allow the
YPHMK group to be able to find out what is happening more
widely and to be able to give input
The Management Board supported the idea of a reward system for
young volunteers. This is covered in point 64 below.
Georgia gave feedback on the health work being done by YCAB. This is
about bullying and will cover:
 Cyber bullying
 Homophobia
 Self awareness
As next week is anti-bullying week YCAB has written to head teachers.
There should be events going on in school.
Feedback from Amber on the work of Youth Parliament will be put on
the agenda for the next meeting.

Project Updates: CAMHS
Jane reported that she has been approached by the providers of the
CAMHS service asking if the group would be willing to do an inspection
visit similar to the one they did at the hospital. The group was
interested in doing the visit.
It was agreed that the best dates would be later in the half term week in
February. Jane will let the provider know and invite them to the next
meeting to discuss the questionnaire.
Hospital visit
Jane reported that she still does not have the feedback from the
hospital visit despite chasing several times for it. She will continue to
ask for the report.
63
YPHMK Website Update
Jane explained that the new website is being created and that the
YPHMK part of it is nearly finished. The group agreed the achievements
that should be put on it. They also added to the list of links that could
be added. Finally they each wrote a short profile and took photos to put
on it.
Social media will be used to let people know about the new website and
it will be put on the Y-alert.

Certificates and logs of activity
Jane showed the young people a draft log and certificate. The group
liked the logs and these will be put in place for every group member so
that they have a complete record of what they have contributed to use
whenever they are needed.
The group also discussed an offer of vouchers for local activities
available to volunteers. The group agreed to ask to become involved.

M agreed to edit it.
