Linwood in the 1940s- BTTP Jane Q: Hello and welcome to Blast to the Past! Bobby: Recently, radiation officers have ventured to the surface and have found an abandoned school named Linwood Elementary School. They also found a halfburied time capsule. The capsule contained papers on the history of the school in the 1940s. Max Johnson: Here is a summary of what they found: In 1941 a character named Santa Claus came to the school. The children were so happy they excited a rare kind of bird, nearly extinct from the Wipeout. It is the avian species 345611, or the duck. The school was also a place to poll for presidents and governors. They have obtained a picture of the incident: Jane Q: After this, a new principal was elected. Her name was E. C. Intolubbe and was elected in 1943, around the same time a minor smallpox epidemic broke out. Supplies and Services reports that smallpox was a virus that was as deadly as the asteroid that hit Earth so long ago. Max Johnson: In 1944, during WWII, when rations were being passed out, Intolubbe changed the order of registration so that people with surnames starting with S-Y would get the rations earlier than surnames A-R. Bobby: We also have some comments from a man who was preserved until 17 months ago- over to you. David Guillams: When I went to school from 1943 to 1950, World War II was going on, and you could buy war bond stamps for 5 cents. We had two-part desks and pens & ink. I remember that you could watch a movie for 15 cents in the cafeteria, if you had the money. Jane Q: And, finally, we have a picture of Principal Intolubbe: AND NOW BACK TO YOUR SCHEDUELED NEWS REPORTERS SAY THAT SUPPLIES ARE RUNNING OUT. WILL THE RADIATION EVER GO AWAY? AND IN LOCAL NEWS, A WOMAN HAS TAUGHT HER FROG HOW TO TAP DANCE. FIN
