Welcome to the Division of Hospital Medicine. During your first year, you will participate in a number of faculty development activities that aim to advance your clinical, educational, system improvement, and scholarly skills. This form outlines the activities offered during the year and it also serves as your roadmap to fill out your calendar.

First-Year Mentoring Program
* a formal relationship that bridges to a mentoring program for your future years
* each new faculty assigned a Senior Mentor to meet 3 times formally during the course of the year
* each new faculty also assigned a Junior Mentor to help provide general guidance and to help troubleshoot the daily “nuts and bolts” of being a new faculty member
* by end of the first year, each new faculty member should have career mentor identified going forward

Clinical Teaching Observation Program

Division Faculty Development Activities
Faculty Development Lunches
* the DHM convenes every Monday from 12-1p in U-112
* 2nd Monday is a dedicated "Quality" lunch to discuss QI/Patient safety activities for the division and medical services
* 1 st and 4th Monday is a dedicated "Faculty Development" lunch to discuss a variety of topics for personal/professional development
* 2 nd and 4 th Friday 121 PM lunch is “Cases and Conundrums,” a case conference to discuss interesting and complex cases from the wards with your colleagues
DHM Grand Rounds
* 2nd Tuesday of the month from 4-5 PM
* Format: 10 minute clinical update/journal club (2 nd half of year), 45 min GR presentation
* Each new faculty will present one hospital medicine update in their first year
