Waters come out from the springs all year around which end up in a small lake. You get to the lake walking through a narrow tunnel of 186m. The lake exists thanks to a dam built by the Italians in order to provide the nearby Kolymbia with fresh water. Continuing along the east coast, passing through rustic villages, vineyards and olive groves, you will reach Lindos. You will be captivated by the Acropolis crowning the 400-foot rocky cliff and the whitewashed town surrounded by the azure sea. There is a 20-minute climb through the narrow streets of the town, and up 250 steps to the Temple. Explore the ancient site of the last conquerors including the 4th century B.C. Doric temple of Athena and the double-winged portico. We then head to the Village of Apollona located almost in the center of the island. Apollona acquired its name from the Temple of God Apollo who was the protector of Rhodes Island and fine arts. We will visit the Cathedral Temple of the village with a vast history, splendid hagiographies, memoirs of the saints and its pebbled courtyard. The folklore museum of Apollona is one of the most remarkable on the island, a wide range of domestic utensils, rural tools, ancient objects, medieval burrstones plus traditional women’s costumes and embroideries are displayed. We will also have the opportunity to learn about the local products of Apollona by visiting a quaint little store displaying these products. After our wander around the village, we will have lunch in a traditional rustic Taverna serving us a delicious traditional Greek meal. Our last visit is at the Butterfly Valley*. This valley is home to thousands of butterflies that flood the valley in order to reproduce and is a biotope unique in the world surviving untouched in its own dimension. On the return journey the boat stops at the magnificent Anthony Quinn Bay, named after the famous actor, for a short swim and photos of this picturesque Bay.
