Ray’s Trash Service Trash and Recycling Collection Guidelines The following information is taken from City of Westfield Trash and Recycling Information Brochure and Ray’s Trash Service website. It is intended as a quick reference information source for the members of the Bridlewood HOA. Collection Time – Trash/Recycling collection will occur one time per week between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the scheduled pick-up day. Please have all material to the curb by 7:00 AM. Acceptable Garbage – Acceptable garbage includes animal or vegetable waste resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking, serving, or consumption of food, and including all paper, wrappings, boxes and cartons used to contain such food. Unacceptable Garbage including Hazardous Waste – Any waste designated as “hazardous” by the United States Environmental Protection Agency or appropriate state agency is classified as not acceptable garbage. Currently some items classified as hazardous waste and not acceptable include any flammable or volatile liquids, full or partially filled paint cans (empty are okay), batteries or tires. For proper disposal of hazardous waste, please contact Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center at 1717 Pleasant St Suite 200 Noblesville, IN 46060 or call them at (317) 7764005. Large amounts of construction or demolition debris materials are not acceptable. All Materials in Carts – All trash must fit inside the cart(s) except for purchased overage bags or yard waste tied together. Overage Bags – Contact the City of Westfield to purchase acceptable overage bags (orange colored) at the Department of Public Works (317) 804-3150. Bags cost $1.00 each. Yard Waste – Yard waste needs to be securely tied together and not exceed 4-feet in length, 18-inches in diameter and not weighing more than 40-pounds per bundle for easy handling. Additional Cart Availability – A third cart in either a 96-gallon or 65-gallon size for a maximum total of three carts per resident is available. There is no cost for an additional third cart. Contact Ray’s Trash Service to request a 3rd cart. Bulk or Heavy Trash Items – Large bulky or heavy items include but are not limited to items such as stoves, washers, dryers, furniture, and other items with weights or volumes greater than those allowed for by approved trash carts. It also includes items such as refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, and dehumidifiers as long as the refrigerants (CFC’s or HCFC’s) have been removed. It will be necessary for the resident to provide documentation showing that the refrigerants have been properly removed by a licensed technician. Bulk or Heavy Trash Item Pick-ups – Bulk or heavy item pick-ups will be on the regularly scheduled trash pick-up day. Please call Ray’s Trash to schedule a pickup of bulky or heavy trash items at least 48 hours prior to the regular trash pick-up day. Large amounts of construction or demolition debris materials are not considered bulk or heavy trash items and should not be placed at the curb. Acceptable Recycling Materials – Newspaper, advertisement sections, junk mail, office grade paper, phone books, catalogs, magazines, 1 through 7 rated plastics, bi-metal and aluminum cans (place lids in cans), small pieces of clean cardboard flattened, green, brown, and clear glass are all acceptable. Unacceptable Recyclable Materials – For questions regarding acceptable or unacceptable recyclable materials please visit Ray’s Trash Service website or call them. Trash Cart(s) Placement – Carts should be placed at the curb at least 3-feet apart from each other and from other objects (i.e. mailboxes, cars, sign posts). It is preferred that carts be placed on the driveway on the opposite side of the mailbox. It is okay to place carts on the grass. Christmas Trees – One Christmas tree per household per year will be picked-up. Christmas tree pick-up will occur each year through the week of January 15. Holiday Schedule – Ray’s Trash Service does not provide service on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. All scheduled pick-ups falling on these holidays or days in the remainder of the holiday week will be delayed by one day. Material collected from this program will be locally composted. Program information is listed below. To enroll call Ray’s Trash Service at (800) 531-6752. Fall period is from 3rd week in October to 1st week in December. Contact Ray’s Trash Service for exact times each year. Enrollment fee is $15.00 and covers the entire fall collection period. To enroll contact Ray’s Trash Service and sign up over the phone using a credit card. 20 bags per week limit during leaf and brush collection period. Leafs and brush must be placed in “paper compost bags” that are available at many stores including Lowe’s, Menards, Target, and Wal-Mart. Plastic bags are not acceptable. Bag(s) must be placed near the curb and will be picked up on the same day as regularly scheduled trash pick-up. Do not block trash/recycling carts. Brush bundles can be no more than 4-feet long, 18-inches wide and 40-pounds in weight. Individual limbs should not be more than 6-inches in diameter. Tie bundles using twine or rope, please do not use metal ties. One bundle counts as 1-bag toward the 20-bag weekly limit.
