SCARECROW COMPETITION
Last year we grew and harvested an amazing amount of vegetables from our fields - 3,500kg to be precise.
Of course some of our crops suffered from many pests who also appreciated our food - birds, rabbits,
partridges, slugs, insects ... sometimes they all feasted at the same time.
We need to grow more veg for our expanding membership and we are extending our growing into
a second field and poly tunnels. We have plans to deal with the pests - including runner ducks who
like slugs. Can you help us by making a scarecrow to scare the birds? We are launching
our scarecrow competition to coincide with World Book Day - and are looking for:
Scarecrows that are
• Made from re cycled materials, clothes etc
• Based on your favourite book character - or any character you'd like to make
• Going to keep the birds away - noisy, shiny, scarry 'crows'
