EIGHTH ANNUAL NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The National
Commission for Cooperative Education, on behalf of the eight NCCE Partner Colleges and
Universities, is pleased to announce and sponsor its Eighth Annual National Co-op Scholarship
Program. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States,
the National Commission will award 170 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each, for a total
renewable value of $4,200,000. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors
and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of our Partner
Colleges and Universities listed in this booklet.
THE HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND The National Commission for Cooperative Education is
proud to assist and promote the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s leading organization
supporting Hispanic higher education. Founded in 1975 as a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization,
HFS’s vision is to strengthen the country by advancing college education among Hispanic Americans.
In support of its mission to double the rate of Hispanics earning college degrees, HSF provides the
Latino community more college scholarships and educational outreach support than any other
organization in the country. HSF scholarship opportunities are available to graduating high school
seniors who plan to enroll in college, community college students who plan to transfer to a four-year

Colorado Masonic Scholarship –
These scholarships provide financial assistance to deserving students and are awarded primarily for leadership, maturity, need, and scholastic ability without
reference to race, creed, color, sex, or Masonic relationship. The scholarships are not intended to cover all expenses. Awards up to $7000 per year, renewable
annually up to 4 years to a maximum of $28,000, are for students attending an accredited school of higher education within Colorado. A personal interview is

Colorado Masonic Vocational Grant –
These grants are intended to provide financial assistance to deserving students. A one-time grant of up to $3000 will be awarded to assist in
obtaining a vocational skill from a vocational training program within the state of Colorado. Students must contact a representative from their

2011 Four Corners Bar Association Scholarship –
This scholarship is awarded by the Four Corners Bar Association, which is the chapter of the Colorado Bar Association for attorneys and judges in the 22nd
Judicial District (Montezuma and Dolores Counties). Graduating seniors who will be attending an accredited College or University are eligible. There are no
requirements that any specific major course of study be pursued. All graduating seniors attending Montezuma-Cortez High School are eligible to apply for the
scholarship. Direct family members of members of the Four Corners Bar Association are ineligible. A scholarship of $250.00 will be awarded in 2011. The 2011
scholarship may be renewed for 3 additional years for $250.00 per year (for a total award of $1,000.00). To receive a renewal scholarship, the recipient must

Scott McComb Memorial Scholarship –
The Scott McComb Memorial scholarship is a scholastic-athletic scholarship. The fund was established in June 1982 as a memorial to Scott McComb who died

Members in good standing, children, and grandchildren of members in good standing with the Cortez Emblem Club 3261 or the Benevolent and
Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #1789 are eligible to apply for a scholarship. A dependent child whose legal guardian is a member of either
above organizations, including a student from Cortez, Dolores, Mancos, and Dove Creek, is eligible to apply. The applicant shall state the name of

Leonard Cain Medical Scholarship –
Dr. Leonard Cain has established a Medical Scholarship designated to provide financial assistance for students who are motivated to pursue

Al Packer Chapter 100 ECV Scholarship –
The Clampers are a historical brotherhood founded by miners during the early mining era of California to aid families of deceased miners. This
tradition and mission has evolved where today the Clampers continue to provide financial assistance to needy organizations and individuals in the
local community. The “Clampers” will be awarding a $500.00 scholarship to a deserving high school senior enrolling in a higher education
