Cotuit Center for the Arts Presents “The 5th Annual Bob Dylan Birthday Tribute: This Year the
Format's a Changin'"
Celebrate Bob Dylan’s 74th birthday with Matt Borrello, Art Tebbetts, Danielle Miraglia, and a special
guest appearance by James Davis on Saturday, May 9, at 7:30 PM, at the Third Fret Coffeehouse at
Cotuit Center for the Arts. Each singer will offer his or her own take on both Dylan’s classics and
some of his obscure tunes.
Davis, a Cape Cod high school student, received unanimous praise for his performances in the
Center's production of "The Beat Goes On" earlier in the season.
New this year is a short “Nod to Bob,” a “name that tune” segment in which the musicians and the
audience test each other’s knowledge of Bob. The musicians will play a Dylan tune and audience
members will see how fast they can guess the name of the tune. Then audience members will try to
stump the musicians by asking them to play what they may think are lesser known Dylan tunes.
The musicians will also take requests from the audience in a special new segment of the show. To
make a request in advance of the show, email Tracey at tracey@trespassmusic.org.
Borrello and Tebbetts share a love for the music of Bob Dylan. Each accomplished folk singers in his
own right, the two have long enjoyed sharing the music of Dylan. Tebbetts hosts an Open Mic in his
hometown of New Bedford, which is where he and Borrello first got together share their large
repertoire of Dylan songs.
Matt Borrello is a traveling singer and guitar player with a repertoire of traditional folk, classic rock,
and contemporary original songs. Born and raised in the small Southeastern Massachusetts town of
Dighton, Borrello started playing guitar at 14. Now in his mid-20s, he usually performs as a solo
acoustic act and writes songs that often blend political and personal themes.
“As a teenager,” he writes, “I fell in love with and subsequently absorbed a good chunk of my
parents' and grandparents' music collections. When I discovered Bob Dylan I committed dozens of his
most poetically dense songs to memory. My brain is still recovering.”
Danielle Miraglia has been described as a dynamic and captivating musician, who “comes armed with
a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson” and “sings with gutsy passion, blows a man harp, and writes
songs both tender and timely.” She grew up in Revere, but is steeped in the Delta Blues, and has
shared the stage with Johnny Winter, Bettye Lavette, John Hammond Jr., Joan Osborne, John Mayall,
Sonny Landreth, John Oates, Colin Hay, Robert Cray, Rodney Crowell and many more and is a
frequent guest of The James Montgomery Blues Band.
Tickets are $25, $22 for seniors, and $20 for members. Premium tables with wine are available. It is
recommended that tickets be purchased early as this event usually sells out.
The Third Fret Coffeehouse is presented as a partnership between the Center and Trespass Music.
Light refreshments are available to enjoy during the show.
Doors open at 7 PM. Cotuit Center for the Arts is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit. For more information,
