National Night Out, celebrated by police departments across the nation, is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). The Police Departments’ goal is to heighten safety and crime prevention awareness; to support locally-based businesses, groups, and organizations; and to strengthen relationships among community members and between the community and local police department. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 6 pm – 9 pm Piney Branch Elementary School 7510 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, MD The Takoma Police Department event is free, so bring your whole family and invite all your friends! This year’s event will include informational brochures on various safety topics and crime prevention, food, games, give-aways, and more. There will be police vehicles on display, officers and their horses from the Park Police mounted division, a canine demonstration, child fingerprint kits & child fingerprinting, a moon bounce, face painting, Kona Ice, food & ice cream… just to name a few!
