Middle Age Japan Prove It To Me Project
We have reached the end of another unit of study so it is time for another world famous
Prove It To Me Project. For this project your goal will be to prove your understanding of Big
Idea #5 by showing your knowledge of a historical trend we learned about in Middle Age
Japan and by analyzing a historic event that we have also studied.
Big Idea #5 - Interpret historical trends, periods of time and the relationships among these
elements.
How do people, societies, and/or circumstances impact history? (history)
Directions: For this project you will be working as a scholarly writer for the American
Magazine of Historic Writings of America. As a highly educated writer, it is very important
that you put your writing skills on display by following the 5-paragraph essay format for
the article you are about to write.
Your article will need to discuss the following subjects in your article:
1. An introduction paragraph that includes a hook, some background information, a thesis
as well as a conclusion paragraph that restates your thesis/summarizes your paper.
(Paragraphs 1 and 5)
2. Compare and contrast TWO trends you have seen in Japan to trends in another time or
place we have studied. (Paragraph 2 = big topic 1, Paragraph 3 = big topic 2)
3. Summarize ONE event, such as the Gempei War or the failed attack by the Mongols, and
explain how it impacted Japan for many years after the event took place. (Paragraph 4 =
big topic 3)
