Notify the Committee Chair of leadership and membership changes.
Climate Action Plan
Robert East*, Dennis McMaster, Patrick Caffrey, Naomi Bick, Dan Toski
Revise the Plan as needed. Maintain adherence to ACUPCC requirements (American
College and University Presidents Climate Commitment). Submit revisions to the
ACUPCC.
College Operations
Patrick Caffrey*, Emily Gilbreath, Jamie March, Sydney Bynum, Sue Tran, Michael Roth,
Monitor landscaping, usage of energy and materials, recycling, and other aspects of
College operations other than food and greenhouse gas emissions and implement
initiatives to guide the College towards zero net greenhouse emissions and the broader
project of realizing greater environmental responsibility.
Curricular Integration
Robert East, Mark Swift
Extend environmental education throughout the College and the broader community
through guest lectures, posters, and other means, and assist faculty in making use of
environmentally-related curricular materials.
Engagement and Events
Justin Dandoy*, Mark Swift, Jake Myers, Lauren Horning, Ryan Currie. Dana Pool
Maximizes the engagement of students and of student organizations in
environmentally-responsible actions and in the execution of the Committee’s mandate.
Work with students clubs and organizations to develop to plan events related to
engaging with and protecting our environment.
Schedules lectures and other special events and ensures that the requisite facilities
meet event requirements.
Organizes meals for visiting speakers and class visits by them.
Notifies relevant faculty of speakers and events and of the availability of meals and class
visits. Relevant faculty includes all those teaching EVS (Environmental Studies) courses
that semester; ask EVS Director Bob East for assistance.
Posts events on College schedules and advertises in on- and off-campus media as
needed.
Environmental Policy
Robert East*, Candy DeBerry, Robert Dunn,
Monitor environmentally-related developments in the region. Collaborate with W&J
Center for Energy Policy and Management when promoting sustainable energy
solutions.
Finance
Dennis McMaster*, Thomas Szejko, and James March
Monitor disbursements to working groups and expenditures to ensure that the
Committee is able to meet its obligations while making the best possible use of its
budget.
Greenhouse Gas Inventory
Jamie March*, Thomas Szejko, Jake Myers, Dan Toski and Josiah Ritchey.
Monitor College greenhouse gas emissions and prepare and submit reports in
accordance with AASHE requirements. Integrate reports into the Climate Action Plan.
Media Services
Jamie March*, Justin Dandoy*, Naomi Bick
Maintain the Committee’s Sakai and Web site and design and install instructional
posters and other media. Helps communicate initiatives of other Sus Com Working
Groups.
Food and food related waste
Evan Appod, Lauren Horning, John Rider, Aaron Weaver, Chef Doug, Jamie March
Monitors the sources of food and of food choice offerings. Guides Food Services in
making further improvements in the environmental, ethical, and health qualities of food
offerings.
Coordinates the composting of food and other organic waste.
Monitors the materials used to serve food and to wash dishes and utensils. Investigates
and implements means by which wastage may be reduced.
Transportation
Rob Dunn, Charlie Hannon, Jennifer Harding*,
Devises and implements programs to promote walking and bicycling and to reduce
dependence on motorized vehicles
