Speaker Biographies June 11-12, 2015 Alphabetical Order: Leonard Brennan, DMD, has practiced general dentistry in Portland, Maine for more than thirty years. He is the co-director of the Harvard University's Dental Geriatric Fellowship Program and a clinical instructor in their Department of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology. Through teaching and research on the relationships of oral disease to systemic disease, he strives to improve the oral health of Maine seniors. Finding reasonable solutions for health problems fuels his enthusiasm. He passionately believes that education through an interdisciplinary health care model is key to improving oral health care for all older adults. Dr. Brennan attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed a Harvard University Geriatric Dental Research and Teaching Fellowship Program. He was recognized for his postdoctoral work at Harvard as the recipient of the Dr. James Dunning Award for excellence in biomedical research and teaching. He completed a second post-doctoral fellowship in Medicine and Palliative Care at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and is a graduate of the American Society on Aging Leadership Institute in San Diego, California. Dr. Brennan is guest editor for Dental Clinics of North America's Dental Geriatric Edition and the author of the chapter “Cognitive Impairment in Older Adults.” Nationally, Dr. Brennan was a presenter on “Oral Health and Systemic Disease” at the American Society on Aging Conferences in Washington and San Diego. In 2009, he traveled to northern Haiti to begin a geriatric assessment of the population of Cap Haitien. Since 1982, he has taught oral health for the Medical Geriatric Fellowship Program at Maine Medical Center. He has had the opportunity to teach at Harvard University Medical and Dental Geriatric Fellowship Programs, Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, the University of New England Medical School, Northern Haiti Dental Society, and at the 2013 Maine Geriatric Conference. Locally, he has been involved in many community dental and medical organizations and as a volunteer in the Dental Lifeline Network for which he was nationally recognized by CNN Money magazine with the 2014 "Hero Award" for his work with the elderly and other fragile individuals. Polly Campbell, RN, BS, BA, is Director of the statewide Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Program, Maine Office of the Attorney General, a position she has held for over 12 years. She is responsible for program oversight including training of health care providers interested in becoming Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFE); technical assistance for SAFEs, health care providers who care for patients who have been sexually assaulted, and Sexual Assault Response Teams; promoting community awareness of violence issues; and working with community partners to improve the community response for victims of abuse and violence. She currently sits on the Maine Domestic Violence Homicide Review Panel, Maine Elder Death Analysis Review Team, and Maine Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. She is Past-President of the International Association of Forensic Nurses. Prior to her tenure at the AG’s office she worked in clinical nursing for a decade and has spent the last 28 years working in the fields of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse and neglect first at The Family Crisis Services in Portland as Community Response Coordinator, and later at the Muskie School of Public Service, University of Southern Maine as Coordinator of Cross-Disciplinary Projects. In addition to direct service with victims of abuse and violence, she coordinated statewide training and service programs that brought together professionals from various disciplines to better meet the needs of adult and child victims of violence. Anne Cowles, MPH, BS, is the Fitness Director for the University of New England’s College of Osteopathic Medicine U-ExCEL (Exercise and Conditioning for Easier Living) program. She is a Speaker Biographies Page 2 graduate of the University of New England and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Exercise Science. Anne was awarded Fellow status by the Maine Gerontological Society, recognized for her outstanding contributions to gerontology and geriatrics in the state of Maine. She serves as Project Director on a National Institute of Health funded research grant designed to study the efficacy of U-ExCEL’s Balancing Act Program with older adults that have vision impairment. Anne works hands on with older adults, focusing on health and wellness enhancement through a variety of modalities, specifically physical activity and balance improvement. Her role in the development of U-ExCEL’s Balancing Act has specialized her work with older adults on standing balance control and proprioception enhancement. Jennifer Crittenden, MSW, is a Fiscal and Administrative Officer at the UMaine Center on Aging. She received both her B.A. in psychology and M.S.W. from the University of Maine. Jennifer has over eight years of research experience and has been involved in numerous research, community service, and training projects here at the university. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, traveling and reading a good book. Jennifer lives in Levant with her husband Nate, her daughter Emma, and their beagle Milka. Rebecca DeKuester, MEd is co-founder and Director of Community & Education at Wellness Connection of Maine, the largest state-licensed medical cannabis dispensary in New England. Becky has over a decade of experience in all aspects of the medical cannabis industry on both the West and East Coasts, with extensive focus on crafting successful policy and regulation at the local and state levels. A former director of Berkeley Patients Group in California, Becky cochaired the Measure JJ campaign which codified city dispensary regulations and created the nation’s first Medical Cannabis Commission in Berkeley. She advised the Maine Governor’s Task Force as they drafted dispensary regulations in 2010. Becky has deep experience in operational best practices in both vertically-integrated and distributed cannabusiness models. A former high school teacher and administrator, she is an author and public speaker who uses her Speaker Biographies Page 3 extensive knowledge of the industry to educate community leaders, health care professionals, legislators and others about medical cannabis. Merrill F. Elias, PhD, MPH is a neuropsychologist and a cardiovascular epidemiologist. He is a lifetime fellow in the American Heart Association Council on High Blood Pressure and the Council on Epidemiology of the American Heart Association, and a lifetime Fellow of American Psychological Association and the Academy of Behavior Medicine. He is on the editorial board of Hypertension, was on the first Aging Review Committee (study section) of the National Institute on Aging, and has served on the Human Development and Aging Study Section, NIH. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Maine in 1977, he was the associate director for research at the Gerontology Center at Syracuse University. He is Professor of Psychology at the University of Maine and cooperating faculty member in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering. Speaker of House Mark Eves is serving his second term as Speaker of the Maine House and his fourth term in the legislature. He has dedicated his time in the legislature and his professional career to improving the lives of children, seniors, veterans and working families. As Speaker, he has worked to create more economic opportunity for the people of Maine. He pushed to expand access to health care for adults and children in Maine, and for Maine’s anti-poverty programs to focus on job training, while also increasing property tax credits for Maine families and seniors. He has brought together hundreds of stakeholders to put a spotlight on Maine’s aging population and launched a statewide initiative to help Maine seniors live independently longer. Cosmina Fachiol, MD, Dr. Cosmina Fachiol is a family medicine physician and geriatric and palliative medicine specialist employed as a faculty member by Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency’s Geriatrics Program. She also is the director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program at Eastern Maine Medical Center. She joined Maine General Medical Center’s and Eastern Maine Medical Center’s staff in December 2010. As a geriatrician, Speaker Biographies Page 4 Dr. Fachiol is trained to care for aging adults, who often require specialized treatment plans or procedures. She graduated from luliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Romania. Marilyn R. Gugliucci, MA, PhD, is the Director for Geriatrics Education and Research at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM), and Director of U-ExCEL (UNE~Exercise and Conditioning for Easier Living) Fitness/Wellness Program for older adults. Her Learning by Living Research Project, a UNECOM signature program, “admits” medical students into nursing homes to live the life of an elder resident for 2-weeks. She also conducts research on older adult function, falls, and proprioception. She serves on a number national executive boards for organizations focused on aging and is the Immediate past chair for the Gerontological Society of America Health Sciences Section (1730 members). In Maine, She is currently the Past-President of the Maine Gerontological Society, and on the Board of Directors for the Maine Council on Aging, the newly formed SAGE Maine for GLBT older adults, and serves on the Hospice of Southern ME Ethics Committee, among others. Dr. Gugliucci also served on the board for Maine Legal Services for the Elderly from 2000-12. Dr. Gugliucci was awarded the 2013 Innovations in Clinical Medicine Education Award for her Learning by Living Project, the 2012 Association for Gerontology in Higher Education Hiram Friedsam Mentorship Award for her excellence in mentoring students, faculty, and administrators in the field of aging; and the 2012 Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and MaineToday Media, Inc. Healthcare Hero Award for her excellence, dedication, innovation, compassion and exemplary achievements as a Health Care Educator in Maine. James B. Hanley, DMD, is a native of Worcester, Massachusetts who attended public elementary schools in Shrewsbury and graduated from Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Sciences at Assumption College, he matriculated to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and was awarded a DMD upon successful completion of his studies. Dr. Hanley practiced General Dentistry in Worcester before returning to Tufts and completing a residency program in Periodontology. Speaker Biographies Page 5 Subsequently, he opened a full-time private practice, limited to Periodontology, in Concord, Massachusetts and began working part-time as a Clinical Instructor at Tufts. Over the years, he gradually increased his commitment to teaching and rose to the rank of Associate Professor. He also served in a number of administrative roles, including Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Chair ad interim of the Department of Periodontology, and Director of Periodontal Clinic Administration. He is a recipient of the Tufts University Provost’s Award for Teaching and Service. Jim is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a graduate of the American Dental Education Association Leadership Institute. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Education Association, the American Dental Association and the Maine Dental Association. Dr. Hanley also serves as a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation and on the board of directors of the Eastern Dentists Insurance Company. In addition, he is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Academy of Dental Sciences, and he is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. After rowing for four years during college, Dr. Hanley served as the Head Rowing Coach at Assumption College for three years. He is a longterm member of Riverside Boat Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, having served as both the President and a Trustee of the club. Jim still competes locally and nationally, including in the Head of the Charles and USRowing Masters Nationals regattas. Elizabeth B. Hart, MD serves as Medical Director for MaineGeneral Hospice. An honors graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe Colleges and Dartmouth Medical School, she completed residency and her geriatric fellowship at Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency. She is board-certified in Family Medicine, with Certificates of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is a graduate of the “Practice Change Fellowship,” a geriatric leadership program supported by the Atlantic Philanthropies and the John A Hartford Foundation. She is deeply committed to improving care for those facing serious illness, to assuring that goals of care conversations honor patients’ values and preferences, and Speaker Biographies Page 6 to cultivating meaningful conversations to guide end of life decision-making based on what matters most to each patient and family. Connie Jones, MS has held the position of Community Services Director at SeniorsPlus for the past 7 years. As such, she oversees all the area agency on aging programming including information and assistance, outreach, caregiver support, nutrition, medicare counseling and the education center. Prior to moving back to Maine, Connie ran the Prime Time education and resource center for older adults in Manchester NH. Serving 12,000 members, it was a part of the Catholic Medical Center. Connie is an avid teacher and writer. She has developed and taught Retirement Boot Camp™, Brain Aerobics ©, and Writing Your Life Story. Connie is a Maine native who while away for many years has returned to work and retire in Maine. Lenard W. Kaye, DSW, PhD is Professor of Social Work at the University of Maine School of Social Work and Director of the University of Maine Center on Aging in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture. During the 2000-2001 academic year, he was the Visiting Libra Professor in UMaine's College of Business, Public Policy & Health. Previously, he was Professor of Social Work and Social Research and Director of the Ph.D. Program at the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and Associate Director of the Brookdale Institute on Aging & Adult Human Development at Columbia University. Carol H. Kim, PhD received a Ph.D. in microbiology from Cornell University and conducted postdoctoral research in biochemistry at Molecular Probes Inc. and in microbiology at Oregon State University. Dr. Kim joined the UMaine faculty in 1998 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Biology. She was promoted to Professor in 2010. Dr. Kim was the Director of the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering from 2008-2013. The goal of Dr. Kim’s work is to identify factors that influence the regulation of innate immunity and to determine the role of environmental toxicants in Speaker Biographies Page 7 modulating resistance to pathogens. Dr. Kim has successfully received funding from the National Science Foundation, USDA, National Institutes of Health, NASA, among others. Dr. Kim became the Vice President for Research at the University of Maine in September 2013. She is responsible for supporting and expanding the impressive breadth and depth of research and creative activities of the UMaine community. Demi Kouzounas, DMD, a graduate from University of Maine at Orono, graduated in 1981 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She and her husband (Joseph G. Penna, DMD) then joined the U. S. Army, serving in the 86th Medical Detachment in Giessen, Germany from 19811984. They own two practices, Dunstan Dental Center in Scarborough (for the last 28 years) and Northwoods Dental in Skowhegan (for the last two years.) The success of the practices has allowed Demi to do more volunteer work in the community. She is one of the founders of Bright Smiles (a free children’s clinic in Portland) which has for the last 7 years seen children who may have newly immigrated or do not have MaineCare coverage. She also is the cofounder of ‘Dentists Who Care for ME’ which gives a day of free care. For the last five years, the participating dentists have seen more than 2,600 needy Mainers and have donated more than $700,000 of free care. Dr. Kouzounas has been involved in several dental organizations, including as a representative of the Greater Portland Dental Society, as a Pierre Fauchard Fellow, and as a fellow of the International College of Dentists in which she was the past deputy regent for Maine. Dr. Demi Kouzounas is the immediate past-president of the Maine Dental Association and has been very involved legislatively concerning access-to-care issues. Jessica Maurer, JD, began work as the Executive Director of the Maine Association of Area Agencies on Aging in January 2011. She advocates for healthy aging at the national, state and local levels on behalf of Maine’s five Area Agencies on Aging. She also assists the area agencies in strategic planning, program development and implementation. She provides leadership within Maine’s aging network, including on the Maine Council on Aging and Maine Council for Elder Abuse Prevention, to advance public policy initiatives that support Maine’s aging population. She is one of the lead authors of the 2012-2016 Maine State Plan on Aging and of Speaker Biographies Page 8 Building a Collaborative Community Response to Aging in Place. She was the primary organizer for the Speaker’s Round Table Discussions on Aging and the Maine Summit on Aging and is helping to lead the Maine Aging Initiative. A licensed Maine attorney, Jessica worked for nearly 17 years in the Maine Office of the Attorney General. In her last 7 years in the Office, she served as a Special Assistant Attorney General, implementing public policy and legislative initiatives for the Attorney General. Aging related policy initiatives included elder abuse, prescription drug pricing and end of life care. Jessica is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dennis McCullough, MD, has been an “in-the-trenches” family physician and geriatrician for nearly 40 years. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, and trained in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. He has served as a long-time faculty member in the Department of Community and Family Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover NH. He is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and the American Medical Directors Association. The New York Times has credited Dr. McCullough with creating the term “Slow Medicine” to describe a new approach for improved quality eldercare. His book, My Mother, Your Mother: Embracing “Slow Medicine”, the Compassionate Approach to Caring for Your Aging Loved Ones (HarperCollins, 2008) lays out the humane complement to the world of American High-Tech “Fast” Medicine. He has lectured widely in the U.S., and also in Canada, Mexico, and Asia. His work has gained coverage by radio, TV and print media throughout the world. Doreen McDaniel, LSW, is the Adult Protective Services Program Manager at the Office of Aging and Disability Services, Department of Health and Human Services. Her duties include fulfilling the requirements of the state’s Adult Protective Services Act to protect incapacitated and dependent adults from abuse, neglect and exploitation; prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation of these vulnerable adults; enhance the welfare of incapacitated or dependent adults, and Speaker Biographies Page 9 promote self-care whenever possible. The APS unit also has the responsibility for the public guardianship and conservatorship program and management of the estates of protected individuals. Ms. McDaniel has held this position since July 2013. Previous positions with DHHS include Community Programs Manager, Long Term Care Director and MaineCare (eligibility) Program Manager. Previous to employment with state government, Ms. McDaniel has an extensive background in social services – most notably eleven years with Maine’s area agencies on aging, Volunteer Director at the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program and Director of Social Services at a nursing facility. She has a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation from the University of Maine at Farmington. Toni P. Miles, MD, PhD, is the Director of the University of Georgia Gerontology Institute and Professor of Epidemiology. Miles is the author of Health Care Reform and Disparities: History, Hype, and Hope (ABC-CLIO), 2012. Her latest publication: In a Longevity Society, Loss and Grief Are Emerging Risk Factors for Health Care Use: Findings From the Health and Retirement Survey Cohort Aged 50 to 70 Years”, appeared October 2014 in the American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care. Labrini I. Nelligan, MS, was appointed Executive Director of the Lunder-Dineen Health Education Alliance of Maine in November 2012. Nelligan has served as a principal on the Alliance team since the inception of the program and has been instrumental in building the infrastructure and learning environment for the program. Nelligan oversees all business operations of the Alliance including direct management of all non-clinical staff including: Maine outreach; financial and administrative operations; marketing and communications, as well as other relations to key stakeholders such as the Maine Alliance Advisory Council. Previously, Nelligan served as associate director of Development Campaigns and Logistics at the Massachusetts General Hospital. During her six years in Mass General Development, Nelligan has served on the Campaign team which has led several large-scale Campaign initiatives such as the internal and external campaign announcement events, the staffing of the Campaign Speaker Biographies Page 10 Steering Committee, and the planning and installation of the first-ever Visionary Donor Wall at MGH. Greg Payne, BA, JD, Since 2007, Greg Payne has been the Director of the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition, a diverse association of more than 120 private and public sector organizations committed to ensuring that all Mainers are adequately and affordably housed. He also a developer of affordable rental homes at Avesta Housing, a non-profit housing agency based in Portland. Mr. Payne has more than 17 years of experience in issues related to housing and homelessness, including work at the Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. Following his graduation from law school, he worked in Boston for five years as a real estate attorney specializing in affordable housing. Mr. Payne earned a B.A. in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston. He currently serves on the board of directors of the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the Genesis Community Loan Fund. Regula H. Robnett, PhD, MS, MEd, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist with 23 years of experience. She is a professor and gerontologist who has a passion for cognition and aging. She has taught in the Occupational Therapy Department at the University of New England, in Portland, Maine for 19 years. Dr. Robnett received her master of science degree in occupational therapy from Colorado State University in 1991 and her PhD in gerontology from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2007. Her expertise is in cognition and aging, occupation-based cognitive rehabilitation and assessment, gerontology, psychometrics, and productive aging. She teaches the biopsychosocial dimensions of older adults, research methods, and other courses related to aging, group process, and occupational performance. She has several publications including an interprofessional textbook, Gerontology for the Health Care Professional, now in its third edition. Ted M. Roth, MD, is board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and obstetrics and gynecology and is the director of the Bladder Control Center of Central Maine Medical Center and practices through the Women’s Specialty Center of CMMC. Speaker Biographies Page 11 Val Sauda, RN-BC, MS, MGSF, is currently an Assistant Professor in Nursing at Husson University, Bangor, ME. She has worked in multiple healthcare settings with older adults over her twenty year career in Maine. She is currently the past President of the Maine Gerontological Society, a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and the National Gerontological Nurses Association. She teaches at the undergraduate and graduate level including clinical experiences in community based settings. Jeff Shapiro, LSW, MPA, has been the Program Administrator for the Office of Aging and Disability Services, Districts 3, 4, 5 encompassing 9 counties since October of 2012. This entails oversight of the Adult Protective Services Units as well as the Disability/Developmental Services units spanning 5 offices. Before attaining his current position he worked as a caseworker for the then Office of Elder Services from the fall of 2006 – October of 2012. Prior to 2006, Jeff had worked for DHHS as an Interactive Services Coordinator as well as in Child Protective Services. Jeff’s state service originally began in the early 80’s where he worked for the Division of Community Services as a Program Administrator. This involved working with Community Action Agencies in the delivery of social service programs. Jeff worked in the private sector from 19912001, before returning to state service to pursue his true avocation of social work. Clifford Milo Singer, MD, is a geriatrician and psychiatrist who serves as the Chief of Geriatric Mental Health and Neuropsychiatry at Acadia Hospital and Eastern Maine Medical Center. He is the principal investigator on two clinical trials in Alzheimer’s disease and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maine in Orono. In 2005, he was given a special award from the Oregon Department of Health and Human Services for his contributions to older adults with dementia and mental illness. He has been voted to the “Best Doctors in America” list every year since 2003, and has made national television and radio appearances speaking on topics related to aging. He has published 32 papers and 18 book chapters and given more than 300 presentations at regional and national meetings. Speaker Biographies Page 12 Victoria S. Thieme, DO, As a human being in pursuit of discovering and teaching health, Victoria S. Thieme, DO, was an undergraduate at Penn State University studying health education and writing about health while a student. After working in Arizona in a variety of positions as a Health Educator in Corporate settings, she returned to the east coast and pursued an Osteopathic medical education. While professionally developing her skills in Family Practice and Geriatrics as an educator, Dr. Thieme wove the birth of her four children and the evolution of her family into her practice of health care. The biggest lesson she has stumbled upon is raising children with addiction as a health concern. Presently she is working at UNECOM teaching Geriatrics and Osteopathic Family Medicine. The other half of her professional life is spent seeing patients in Brunswick, Maine as a Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine specialist. Many of her patients struggle with chronic pain, many are old, many are wise, and many are out spoken and have continued to educate the doctor about good medicine and the continuing pursuit of health. Susan Wehry, MD, is a geriatric psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience. Since 2011, she has served as Commissioner of Vermont’s Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living. Susan is known to many of us from her previous work in Maine. Since leaving in 1994, she has continued her advocacy for older adults, most recently as an active partner in CMS’ Initiative to Improve Dementia Care in Nursing Homes. In 2010 she authored a curriculum known as OASIS designed to transform care of individuals with challenging behaviors. The curriculum is now in use in over 100 homes in Massachusetts and Vermont has just launched a similar statewide initiative. Susan sums up her career like this: Whether I am at the bedside or the statehouse, in the boardroom or the classroom, I have one simple aim in mind: to advocate for the highest quality of life and care for the people we serve. Speaker Biographies Page 13 David White, LSW, is a Casework Supervisor for the State’s Adult Protective Services Region 2 office. In addition, he is Pastor of Sidney Second Baptist Church, and Treasurer for the American Baptist Churches of Maine. He comes to the Family Violence Project Board after six years of service on the Somerset County Domestic Violence Task Force. David has also served as a trainer with FVP personnel in the University of Southern Maine Cross-Disciplinary Project and was part of a pilot “train the trainer” project for law enforcement around violence against women in later life held in Washington DC in 2008 by the Office on Violence against Women. Deborah Whittemore, ANP, MSN has been a nurse for 40 years and an Adult Nurse Practitioner since 1982. She has worked in family practice, internal medicine, occupational health, and home health. She is certified through the WOCN as a Wound Care Nurse. She has been working as a wound consultant and a clinician in outpatient wound care for 15 years. Her clinical interests are in geriatrics, wound management, and genomics. She has been an Assistant Professor at Husson University for seven years teaching pharmacology, community health, and wound management. David Wihry, MPA, is a Research Associate with the UMaine Center on Aging. A lifelong resident of Maine, he attended the University of Maine and received a B.A. in philosophy. While completing a Master of Public Administration degree at the University of Delaware, David served as a Graduate Research Assistant with the National Center on Elder Abuse, a program of the U.S. Administration on Aging. Among varied research subjects, David is interested in elder abuse prevention, awareness, and intervention strategies.
