Why I am Pro-Life From a religious and moral perspective, abortion is wrong. Abortion defies moral and ethical values that all Christians hold. For Christians, abortion interferes with the plan that God intended for the person who is being aborted. There are also manecular arguments that substantiate abortion as wrong. Beginning with the religious stance, Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This Bible verse states that God has plans set for each and every one of us. Receiving Abortion breaks the plan that God set forth for the aborted person. Another Bible verse, Jeremiah 1:5 states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” This Bible verse shows that God knew each and every one of us before birth. It indicates that we exist as human life before we are physically born. In addition to religious views on abortion, there are also secular arguments that uphold pro-life arguments. A zygote is the first stage of the human embryo afier a sperm penetrates an egg. This zygote contains human DNA and meets the four criteria for biological life, which are metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction. The zygote is a form of human life. By committing abortion, one is killing the life of an innocent human. This is not only morally wrong but is also illegal, due to the fact that murder is against the law in the United States and in all well-developed counties. This also ties in to religious position against abortions because Exodus 20:13 states, “You shall not murder.” In summary, there is evidence from both religious and secular viewpoints that abortion is wrong and should be immediately stopped. Religious writings teach that God knew us before we were born, thus suggesting that abortion interferes with the plans that God has for us. Secular evidence supports the position that life exists before birth and that committing abortion is equivalent to taking a life. Taken together, the evidence demonstrates why abortion is wrong and pro-life efforts should be upheld.
