The best part is, %25 percent of the sales will be used to keep oceans blue. Straight trash. Coming from oceans, passing through experienced Swiss watchmaking atelier and completes the travel at Ulysse Nardin’s flagship boutiques at all around the world. Produced only in 200 pieces, The new Eco-Marine Classico with its Eco-Marine Recycled strap may be one of the most original concepts that world of haute-horlogerie has ever seen. Thanks to the cooperation between Ulysse Nardin and Blue Sea, the organization that aims to keep oceans blue, now we have this first in-house designed and produced eco-friendly watch which is limited to be produced and sold as 200 pieces. The case of the watch is familiar: The Classico, Ulysse Nardin’s legendary 18ct rose gold case, ocean blue (azurro) dial, self-winding movement and power reserve indicator, this unique piece of art and engineering is completed with an extra ordinary part: Eco-Marine Recycle strap. Having an Eco-Marine Classico in your collection doesn’t only mean that you own a uniqe timepiece; with this purchase you also help Blue Sea Organization to keep the seas and oceans blue. The names of 200 purchasers will be written on a memorial at the Lake of Neuchatel, and a personal letter from Jake Mara, the president of Blue Sea organization, will be given with its special box. The company revealed that the idea behind this original concept was to raise awareness against the careless mindset about ocean trash regulation, and also finding an alternative use for the material once it is taken out of the ocean. Today might be the best time to show some respect to our life source. The Concept Why Eco-Marine Watch Project?: The Luxury Sector seeks creativity, rarity, and social responsibility. I wanted to think about something that would be unique and special in order to effect the brand image positively and at the same time to get attention with something courageous and never done before, with a touch of technology. At this point, i remembered the recycling and ocean cleaning process, and i wanted to create a link between this kind of social responsibility and Ulysse Nardin, a brand that is known with their Marine Collections. First, i researched the recycling ocean trash process and i figured out that there is a possibility to clean, vulcanize and squeeze the trash until it all becomes one new material with a unique color and tissue that we can use as a strap to a special watch; that is how we create a unique, eco-friendly piece of art which turns into a high-end timepiece with the Classico case of Ulysse Nardin. Social Awareness: make people feel useful Personalize: with letter and memorial Rarity: 200 pieces, only in boutiques Give away from the profit With this 200 pieces-limited project, the brand will also create an atmosphere for their customers where they can feel themselves epic and unique: They will be one of 200 owners of the first Eco-friendly luxury watch, their names will be written on a memorial because of their support to cleaning oceans, and they will receive a personal letter from the president of the organization. The brand must give to the organization some of the profit in order to show a serious and not-sales-focused attitude, this might create a confidence between the organization, the brand and the clientele. The Innovative Aspect: In Haute-Horlogerie industry, there is just a few brands which are open to innovative solutions. Having created something totally new in a sector that is living for centuries, mixing the classical heritage with a new technology will take attention from the luxurious clientele. I chose to create and market world’s first eco-friendly gold and swiss made watch, because i believe that this product will provide big advantages socially and environmentally. The watch brands try to make a difference with grande complications or producing ultra thin watches, tourbillons, but taking an environmentally responsible step is not their usual move. Technology: After separating the trash coming from seas (selecting various colors of trash, mostly gren blue and pinkish PET bottles) two other processes examined in order to have a high-end quality material for a watch strap. After using melt filtration technique to remove contaminants from polymer, adding some rubber and vulcanizing them will create a new material. At last, by squeezing it, we finally reach to our unique strap.
