NHTI, Concord’s Community College -SUPPLEMENTAL JOB DESCRIPTION INCUMBENT: _____________________________________________ FLSA: Non-Exempt EEO-6: 5-53 (Technical & Paraprofessional) SOC Code: 19-4021 Classification: Laboratory Assistant II Class Code: 557600 Position Title: AGGP/CPET/EET Assistant Date Established: 5/5/15 Position Number: C2R00129 Date of Last Amendment: 5/5/15 SCOPE OF WORK: Performs duties as necessary to maintain a safe, clean, organized, and properly functioning electronic lab environment, assembly & test of circuits, equipment maintenance and calibration, and complete inventory management of components, equipment, tools, and misc. supplies. This position reports to the AGGP/CPET/EET Department Head at NHTI, Concord’s Community College. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Maintains, repairs and calibrates electronic laboratory equipment; Manages equipment inventory including but not limited to organization, storage, testing, cost avoidance, identification of, and proper disposal of failed/obsolete equipment, proactive identification of needs, and purchase of equipment at the lowest possible cost; Generate and read schematics, construction, debug, and test of circuits; Use software tools for schematic capture and circuit analysis; Sets up and sometimes assists with laboratory instruction; Manages components/supplies/tools inventory including, but not limited to organization and storage, testing, cost avoidance, identification of and proper disposal of failed/obsolete component/supplies/tools, identification of needs, and purchase of components/supplies/tools at the lowest possible cost; Ensures that each student “work position” is properly functioning and safe; Ensures that all computing equipment is functioning properly and is loaded with the software necessary for each course; Create and maintain documents using software such as Microsoft Office; Transacts with outside suppliers and equipment manufacturers on behalf of the department; Provides general housekeeping of the laboratories and storage areas; Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations; Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major study in laboratory technology. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience. Experience: One year of experience in laboratory work conducting a wide variety of calibrations and maintenance relative to the Electronic Engineering Technology labs. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. License/Certification: None required. RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of the procedures and practices of laboratory technology. Considerable knowledge of the use of laboratory equipment and skill in the application of techniques utilized in conducting analyses using complicated laboratory equipment. Ability to follow standard laboratory methods and procedures. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to maintain exact records of tests conducted. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
