Time: 19:30 – 21:30

Apologies for absence:

The agenda for the meeting was circulated before the meeting via email and paper copies were available at the meeting.
Matters Arising:
Judges Course – Level 1 & 2 for our region. At last year’s meeting it was discussed that a judge’s course for our region would be considered. Although a course within the region has run it is felt that this did not reach a range of schools/areas and it is thought that another course should be run in
September/October which will be prior to the U11 Individual Floor and Vault. ACTION: Rachael
Leggett to discuss this with Geoff Turner.
Jackets for National Finals – Rachael Leggett did source a couple of samples of zip up jackets but it was felt that the black would not be durable enough. ACTION: Rachael is now going to source grey zip up hoodies which will be presented to committee members present at the next competition. It has been agreed that the region will subsidise the purchase of these although schools will need to contribute a reasonable amount and therefore students will keep them.
Individual Floor and Vault Criteria – The criteria of the U11 Floor and Vault was revised by Charlie
Cattoor after last year’s AGM. This was then past to Geoff Turner who made further alterations.
Feedback from this was that the criteria allowed a fairer competition but the hours that gymnasts train needs to be reconsidered – Acro training hours are currently considered equal to Artistic hours of training? ACTION: Jamie Weller to revisit the criteria for this competition.
Chairman’s Report:
Not available due to Geoff’s absence

The account stands at £8989.62

National Board News: (Jamie Weller)
Music for National Finals can now be sent together and not as individual files
Tumbling at National Finals will be held on the Saturday for all age groups, with a disability section added to the Sunday competition
Rhythmic maybe introduced to schools competitions…important to notify local clubs/schools with links to this discipline
Canterbury owe £30, and the South East Region owe £48 in entry fees
Canterbury will be asked to reimburse the region for their national entry as they did not attend.
ACTION: Tania to contact Canterbury.
In the U11 School Gym Team Floor and Vault an extra tier was developed after the number of entries had been considered to allow more gymnasts to receive medals. This was positively received and something we would like to continue this year. The three tiers will be National, Regional Plus and Regional. Schools may wish to use the development officers in order to gauge which competition their gymnasts should be entered in.
U11 Individual Floor and Vault – 3 tiers – Novice, Intermediate and Advanced this year. Any additional tiers will not be used. Jamie Weller is going to reassess the criteria for all levels. It has been suggested that exemplar routines should be videoed and published on the regions website in order for schools to be clear on the criteria. Once the criteria has been agreed by Jamie, Michelle O’Brien has offered to arrange videos to be produced and passed to Mark Gill
School Gym Team Floor and Vault/Milano – There is a change to the individual floor criteria. In the content of the routine a gymnast must perform only two of the following – strength, balance and flexibility. This will allow for more artistry and movement during the routine.
