NOMINATIONS TO THE
AC MARATHON TECHNCIAL COMMITTEE
Australian Canoeing is calling for nominations to the AC Marathon Racing Technical Committee (ACMRTC).
AC has established a Nominations Committee (NC). The NC will consider the selection of individuals and will
determine the suitability of the nominees to the ACMRTC Chair, AC Board Representative and AC CEO for
consideration.
The ACMRTC has re-structured and the positions available on the Committee are:




Athlete & Coach Development;
Official & Volunteer Development;
Event & Technical Coordinator;
Safety Technical Officer.
ATHLETE & COACH DEVELOPMENT
Key Skills & Experience:
o Holds a current AC Marathon Coach accreditation (minimum level 1) is essential.
o Knowledge of development pathway for athletes and coaches.
o Knowledge of high performance athlete environment.
Key Responsibilities:
o Liaise with the Selection Committee.
o Liaise with State Member Associations to hold Coaching Courses.
o Review Coaching Course materials.
o Liaise with State Member Associations to develop a marathon paddler pathway.
o Liaise with National and Regional Pathway Coordinators
OFFICIAL & VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
Key Skills & Experience:
o Holds a current AC Marathon Official accreditation is essential.
o Knowledge of development pathway for officials.
Key Responsibilities:
o Liaise with the Events & Technical Coordinator on requirements for training officials and
volunteers for the upcoming National Championships.
o Liaise with State Member Associations to hold Officials Courses.
o Review Officials Course materials.
o Liaise with State Member Associations to develop officials and volunteers pathway.
EVENT & TECHNICAL COORDINATOR
Key Skills & Experience:
o Experience in event management or project management.
o Knowledge of the technical requirements of canoe marathon competition.
o Holds a current AC Marathon Official accreditation is desired.
Key Responsibilities:
o Liaise with the host state on meeting the requirements for National Championships
o Review the National Championships report and make recommendations for the following
year’s championships.
o Liaise with the Athlete & Coach Development Coordinator in meeting the selectors’
requirements for a selection event.
o Educate State Member Associations, athletes and coaches changes to technical rules in
marathon from the ICF and AC.
SAFETY TECHNICAL OFFICER
Key Skills & Experience:
o Knowledge of the safety requirements of canoe marathon racing.
o Must hold a current AC Marathon Official accreditation minimum.
Key Responsibilities:
o Liaise with the State Member Association on meeting the requirements of Maritime (or
their equivalent) on safety.
o Liaise with the AC Education and Safety Technical Committee on safety requirements for
Marathon.
o Advocate on behalf of AC and the State Member Associations’ for changes in safety laws.
Nominations must be submitted to the Operations Manager prior to 5.00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Saving Time
on Tuesday 24th February 2015.
