Our school definition of leadership is
anyone who strives to complete a given goal or desire someone who sets a good example for both their peers and adults someone who is always willing to help others
Leaders come in all different forms. Some are outspoken, others are quiet. Some have a lot of ideas; others are excellent at carrying out ideas. Leaders are reliable and responsible. They listen to our needs as a school community. They are people who are not afraid to lead in the footsteps of Jesus, by being a servant to others. Do YOU have what it takes?
Responsibilities
Advisors for the Leadership team will be Mrs. Rex and Mrs. Henretta. The Leadership Team will seek suggestions from students, meet with the advisors during one lunch per week, choose ideas to implement, and then work on advertising and setting up committees to run events. Attendance at lunch meetings is mandatory, as well as completing academic assignments and maintaining good grades.
The Leadership Team will be responsible for reporting important information to their homerooms and to the lower grades. Team officers will be responsible for planning the agenda and taking minutes at each meeting. Representatives will be responsible for sharing the minutes with the school population.
The Leadership Team will include a total of 12 students as follows:
1elected representative from each 5 th and 6 th grade homeroom=4 members
4 representatives (2 elected and 2 appointed) from each 7 th and 8 th grade=8 members.
Once the team is established, team officers will be elected from Grades 7 and 8 members.
Roles/Jobs will be assigned.
Campaign Protocol:
Your campaign should be a positive one! No negative campaigning will be tolerated. The campaign should be fair, honest, and open. No stickers, buttons, candy, food, etc.
All candidates must submit an essay to their homeroom teacher on due date…No Exceptions!
o 7th and 8 th grade candidates must submit 3 copies of their essay to their homeroom teacher.
All candidates must submit the Leadership Application by its date due No Exceptions!
All candidates must create a flyer (8 1/2 by 11” paper) to hang in homerooms.
Grades 5 and 6 must give a speech to their homerooms. Grades 7 and 8 must give a speech to their respective grade. (Focus on any positive contributions that you can make to the school. Do not make any unrealistic campaign promises. Emphasize on your abilities as a leader…Why should someone vote for you?)

The Leadership Essay: 2012-2013
An essay is required of all candidates and due No later than Tuesday, October 30, 2012 . Your essay should include a heading with your name, date, and homeroom. It should be 1-2 pages typed, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font.
In your essay, please elaborate on the following points:

Why YOU would make a good leader.
2.
Our school’s mission is to instill wisdom, integrity, respect, excellence, and devotion in all our students. Choose one of these qualities which you believe is most important for a leader to possess. Support your choice with reasons and examples.
Interview Instructions: Grades 7 and 8 only
Be prepared to answer questions pertaining to your essay.
Have a clear idea of what you would like to accomplish by being a part of the Leadership Team, and why you should be chosen.
Be ready to show your school spirit!
Interviews will be scheduled after Tuesday, October 30 th . You will be notified of your time slot. Please be prompt to your interview.
