Enrollment FAQ Enrollment Priority – within each step of enrollment, students are selected based on the date all completed enrollment forms are turned in. • Partial Immersion Enrollment Form • Immersion Parent Commitment Form (1st – 6th Grade immersion students only) • Open enrollment form (open enrollment students only) Siblings of Immersion Students - we give priority to students with siblings who are already in the immersion program for several reasons • It is best for students to have a sibling at home with which to practice their Mandarin • Parents have already shown a dedication to the program. Girl and Boy Balance – It is important to maintain a reasonable ratio of boys to girls in each of the immersion classrooms. Therefore, we take consideration of that fact when placing students. Therefore, the Mandarin Project reserves the right to move students on the enrollment and wait list based on gender. Waitlist – in the event a program is filled, a waitlist will be maintained. The waitlist will be maintained throughout the Kindergarten and 1st grade year. Students will be moved into the classroom in the order they are on the waitlist. If an opening happens in the middle of the school year, parents will need to give permission to move their student to the Mandarin classroom before any movement is made. After the 1st Grade year, students can only enter the Immersion classroom through satisfactory completion of a Mandarin language test and Parent Input Form Packet. Students will be accepted on a case by case basis by Administration.
