This course aims to help the students of Engineering Faculty acquire the basic theory
and application of a research based technical report including proper style (APA),
organization, format, language, argumentation and reasoning skills and produce a
well written report.
Upon completion of ENG 204, students will specifically:

Analyse a report to fully get the message and details,
Identify a problem, situation or topic to write a report on,
narrow down the topic,
reach appropriate sources to be used as evidences for the report, and evaluate
the quality of all kinds of (an online) sources,
5. write a detailed outline; gather and organize necessary information,
6. frequently revise and evaluate the report progress,
7. use the theory and practise of in-text and end-of text citations properly,
8. write the introductory, body, and conclusion sections of the report
coherently,
9. produce the full written report ( including, abstract, executive summary,
bibliography)
10. present it briefly in front of an audience.
The content includes, types of reports and models; the choice of topics; formation of
thesis statements; writing paraphrases and summaries; preparation of report outlines;
evaluation of print and electronic sources; in-text and end-of-text citation; quotations;
APA format in academic reports; report presentation in oral and written format.
