Instructions for the BScBA Ambassador Presentation
The purpose of these notes is to support and act as a guideline for the presentation – you can always add
and emphasize your own study experiences. Have fun and remember Mikkeli Spirit! 
SLIDE 1 – Bachelor’s Program in International Business
Start the presentation with welcoming everyone and thanking for this opportunity. With a few words, tell
about your background. Then, if you want to, you can show Joonas’s video (YouTube: Aalto BScBA).

SLIDE 3 – The BScBA Program
Why did you choose the BScBA Program?
 Est. 1989
 Major: International Business
o Degree appreciated in the international job market
o gives good foundation for further/advanced studies
o Followed by automatic entrance to Master’s programs at the Helsinki Campus
 No tuition fees, students expected to buy text books for courses at their own expense
 The only place in Finland/Nordics where you can get a Bachelor’s Degree in business in English!
NOTE
 starting from 2015 students will have an automatic right to continue their studies at the main
campus
 Use correctly the following terms
 The name of the program: the Bachelor’s Program in International Business
 The name of the degree: Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business
administration = BScBA

What was your favorite course? What did you learn in Mikkeli that has benefitted you the most?
 an interesting and innovative learning environment
 intensive = 3-week modules, studying one subject at a time
 difficult and demanding  you learn to be productive, like in business life  time management

of different viewpoints and cultures affecting business decisions

Tell an example of your own Mikkeli years, who was your favorite professor?
Remember to mention that our professors always provide office hours and sometimes demand that you go
talk with them about your project. After a course, some of them return your papers with grades and
comments, so you know what to polish next time. You can mention a few known schools if you want.

What was your favorite school project? What did you learn from it?
These are just some examples of how our studies DIFFER from other business schools’ and how you get
excellent chances to develop yourself professionally: you get work experience and great contacts!
 most of our course work is conducted in a similar way (case-studies: you pick a company, study and
examine it, and finally you combine theory and real-life case.)

 Experience student life and culture outside Finland
o study abroad is 3-6 months depending on where you go (one semester)
 Choose from about 50 partner universities, map is showing all of them

An overview of the cost of studying
Student union membership fee
• compulsory for Aalto University students who are studying towards Bachelor’s or Master’s
degrees. It includes a health care contribution that entitles the students to inexpensive health
care services (the Finnish Student Health Service). This applies to international students as well.
Housing
• Most student apartments consist of single rooms and shared apartments within easy walking
distance to the campus and the rents are more affordable compared with private housing.
Many students in Finland live in these shared apartments, which are cheaper and usually easier
to get than private housing. A shared apartment is basically a big apartment where every
student has his/her own room and a shared kitchen and bathroom.

o The participation rate to events roughly 80-90%. You get that nowhere else.
 students are very active to organize parties, game evenings and other kind of get together activities

 7-27 January 2015 (in March for other university programs taught in Finnish)
o Make it clear that they can apply to our program only in JANYARY
 Application form can be filled at studyinfo.fi
 Applicants list 6 options (AMK + University programs) according to their preferences
o only one study place will possibly be offered
 Three admission groups – applicants can apply in only one of them!

Admission based on points awarded for grades while obtaining the diploma  admission group I
 English, Mathematics, and 3 other best scores

 (minimum points in 2014: 28 points)
SLIDE 18 – Reifeprüfung Diploma
You can skip this slide if it doesn’t concern the audience!
 Any other language: any other language in the diploma than one above that gives the best marks.
SLIDE 19 – SAT
For applicants who DO NOT have IB, EB or Reifeprüfung diploma  admission group III
(admission group II: IB/EB/RP + SAT Test)
Admission is based on the SAT Test scores
 tests your skills on mathematics, critical reading and writing

 If they ask: min requirements for SATs: writing 500 and math+ critical reading 1050.
 (minimum points in 2014: 1270 points)
