Cooperative Transfer Agreement between Virginia Commonwealth University and Partner University Partner University (XXX), [City/Province, Country] and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Richmond, Virginia, USA hereby affirm their agreement to cooperate in a broad range of educational activities in their School of XXX and School of ([VCU school]) for the mutual benefit of the students, faculty, staff, institutions, states, and nations. The two institutions will collaborate to meet the demand for developing international professionals who can successfully manage in the new global economy by taking advantage of the education resources at both institutions. In furtherance of these goals, the following activities are authorized: 1. Collaborative Programs Objective: The development of articulated curriculum culminating in undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs offered in collaboration by VCU and XXX. 1.1 Undergraduate Program 1.1.1 VCU and XXX agree that the expected duration of this program is [# of years]. The collaborative undergraduate 1+3 program will require one year in XXX and three years in VCU, and the 2+2 program will be two years in XXX and two years in VCU. 1.1.2 VCU and XXX hereby agree that XXX will deliver the courses for the first part of the program that includes preliminary courses for a Bachelor degree with intensive English, [VCU school] foundation courses and general education courses. The duration will be one or two years depending on student’s study plan and capability. 1.1.3 Upon successful completion of the courses at XXX, a student who fulfills the stated VCU standards of admission and English language requirements (specified in 1.1.6) will apply for admission to VCU. If accepted into VCU, s/he can request to have the XXX courses evaluated for transfer. Any courses approved for transfer by VCU will be listed in the student’s final academic transcript upon graduation from VCU. 1.1.4 Students successfully completing the program and achieving the required standards will be awarded a Bachelor’s Degree by VCU. 1 1.1.5 The prime pathways of this joint program are the majors in the [schools] of VCU and XXX; however, a student who enters VCU is not restricted to programs in VCU [school]. 1.1.6 The undergraduate academic standards and English language requirements for entry into VCU programs are: an average score of 70% [“C”] or above for all courses taken at XXX and TOFEL IBT minimum of 80; or IELTS overall band of 6.0; or a passable score on the VCU English Language Proficiency Test. 1.1.7 If a student fails to meet the English ability requirements mentioned above (TOFEL IBT 80; IELTS 6.0), s/he may elect to take the relevant pre-entry courses provided by VCU. 1.1.8 Students entering this program must meet VCU admission requirements indicated by VCU Undergraduate Admissions (http://www.ugrad.vcu.edu/index.html) and the Global Education Office (http://www.global.vcu.edu/students/admissions/index.html). 1.2 Graduate Program 1.2.1 VCU and XXX hereby agree that the duration of this program is two and a half years. In the first year, students will take intensive English courses and [subject area] courses at XXX. Upon successful completion of the courses at XXX, a student who fulfills the stated VCU standards of admission and English language requirements (specified in 1.2.4) will apply for admission to VCU. If accepted into VCU, s/he can request to have the XXX course credits evaluated for transfer by VCU. 1.2.2 Any courses that receive credit from VCU will be listed in the student’s final academic transcript upon graduation from VCU. 1.2.3 Students successfully completing the program and achieving the required standards will be awarded a Master’s Degree by VCU. 1.2.4 The academic standards and English language requirements for entering Master’s programs at VCU are specified below. 1.2.5 Students entering this program must meet VCU admission requirements indicated by VCU Graduate Admissions (http://www.graduate.vcu.edu/admission/index.html) and the Global Education Office (http://www.global.vcu.edu/students/admissions/index.html). 1.2.6 An average score of 80% [“B”] or above for all courses taken at XXX and TOFEL IBT 100 or IELTS total band score of 6.5, are required for students to be eligible to enter the Master’s degree courses at VCU. 1.2.7 If a student fails to meet the English ability requirements mentioned above (TOFEL IBT 100; IELTS 6.5), s/he may elect to take the relevant pre-entry courses provided 2 by VCU. 2. Tuition Fee Tuition fees at XXX will be charged by XXX. Tuition fees at VCU will be charged by VCU according to the prevailing international tuition and fee structure. 3. Visa Both universities will provide assistance to each student who applies for a visa. 4. Duration and Termination 4.1. This agreement is valid from the date of the last signature for five years. The AGREEMENT shall be reviewed in the final year in order to make a decision concerning its renewal. 4.2. Either party may terminate the agreement by giving at least 6 months’ written notice to the other party provided that termination only relates to not accepting any further students and the parties agree that their respective obligations to students already registered at XXX or those students who have already been offered places and met the requirements for progression to VCU shall continue to be honored by both parties. 5. Miscellaneous Items 5.1. Changes to the agreement will be agreed by the parties through the exchange of written correspondence. 5.2. This agreement comes into effect on the date of last signature. 5.3. The agreement has four pages in all, and is prepared in English and [Language of XXX], both of equal validity. 5.4. Virginia Commonwealth University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Colleges to grant bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees and to award certificates for certain courses of study. XXX is not accredited by the Commission on Colleges and the accreditation of Virginia Commonwealth University does not extend to or include XXX or its students. Although Virginia Commonwealth University may accept certain course work in transfer toward a credential from XXX, or collaborate in other ways for generation of course credits or program credentials, other colleges and universities may or may not accept this work in transfer, even if it appears on a transcript from Virginia Commonwealth University.
