Friends of Anastasia Board Meeting Notes/Minutes
November 17, 2015 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

1.Call to Order
2. Mission Statement
To generate supplemental resources which will provide increased
recreational opportunities and further enhance protection of the
natural and cultural resources of Anastasia State Park.
3. Roll Call
3.1 Board Members – Greg Adams, Rita Roberts, Sharon
Burbelo,Doug Imshaug, Karl Holland, Triss Holland and Katrina
Leonard
4. Discussion and/or Approval of October 24, 2015 Annual Meeting
Minutes:
An approval of the minutes was made with a motion by Karl
and seconded by Rita . All voted yes to approve.
5. Meeting Agenda:
5.1 CSO President Report
Greg thanked us all for our support and reminded us of the
need to continue to work on our goals and the “case for support”.
5.2 Managers Report: Warren Poplin
1) “Coquinq Loop” experienced some flooding and the district
has allocated $10,000 to address the issue
2) The district allocated $20,000 for improvements to Fort Mose
3) Work is currently underway to beautify the “shop” area of the
park .
4) A meeting with the Park Service Specialist is planned for this
Friday to discuss the March 6th Bike week event
5) The photographer for last years Bike week run has agreed to
film a new video of this years event
6) Discussion was had regarding the article “Hunting in the
Park” as well as the issue of “timbering” in State Parks and
Warren reported that neither is planned for Anastasia State
Park
7) Our new Park Service Specialist RENEE MARKET was
introduced and WELCOMED!
5.3 Financial Report: Doug Imshaug
The report was sent by email prior to the meeting. Total as of
end of October is $18,200.
Net total for the ESR is $6284.00
5.4 Membership Report: Dennis Salvati/Diane Glass
Dennis provided a written Membership Report Summary (a 2
month report – 11/17/2015) and the details were reviewed at tonight’s
meeting. Total membership: 176 in good standing. Memberships
Processed since 9/22/2015: 10 (new = 7, renewal= 3 [2 month]). Net
yearly change (11/18/2014 (170) to 11/17/2015 (176) = PLUS 6
Dennis also reported that as of January 2016 Diane will no
longer be assisting him with the membership activities due to
personal commitments. Fortunately, she will be continuing with her
Friends membership.
5.5 Committee Chair Reports
5.5.1 Fundraising:
Motor Cycle Run is planned for March 6 th 2016
ESR registration opens January 31st 2016
5.5.2 Beach Cleanup: Rita Roberts
Next event: Completion of Trail Clean-up is planned
for December 3 at 9am with the purpose of trimming vines and
small limbs protruding into bike lanes in the camping area of the
park. Participants are reminded to bring loppers the park has
only a few pairs. Safety glasses are advised as well as
shoes/boots (no flip-flops). Gloves, sunscreen and bug spray
also advised. All should meet at the Park Shop.

Next Beach Clean up will be January 1st 2016 at 9am.
Meet at the Island Beach Grille.
5.5.3 Recycling/Go Green: Karl Holland
Total of $ 400. Will meet with Warren to discuss
future plans for “Go Green”
5.5.4 Web Site
Katrina will obtain a QR Code and business card for
Friends Website.
She asks all Board members to email her if they
wish to have anything posted on the site
6. Old Business
6.1 Greg reported that if the other organizations are
continuing with the Roadside Clean up, we may join in but
NOT sponsor. He will contact the officials to remove the
Anastasia sign
6.2 Rita reminded us that we have discussed in the
past promoting Friends Memberships as a holiday gift.

7. New Business
7.1 Rita will step down as Vice President and Rich Gallik will assume
her position with a motion made by Triss, seconded by Rita and all Board
members approving. Other Board members will remain in their current
positions, with a motion made by Karl and seconded by Doug and the
Board approving.
7.2 We plan to meet in the future to continue the discussion about our
future goals.
7.3 There are 2 BLUE TUBES now at the park containing bags for
people to use to pick up trash. A motion for sponsorship (name on tube) for
one with the cost of $100 was made by Sharon and seconded by Karl and
the Board approved
7.4 Karl and Triss will be at The Surf illumination and have Freinds
Membership info available
7.5Karl reminded us that the shed needs to be cleaned and this will
be done in January
7.6There will be WiFi in the Park as of Thanksgiving and planned for
the beach area eventually
7.7 Together with the Amphitheatre… A Drive In event “ A Christmas
Story” will be held on December 11th at 4pm at the Hilltop area
7.8 Next Music In the Park is planned for December 12, 2015 from
6pm til 9 pm
7.9 A Christmas party is planned for December 19th (may be held at
Warrens)
8. Next Meeting: December 15th at 7pm
9. Meeting Adjourned: Motion made by Karl and seconded by Renee.
