Year Group: 3 Meet the Flintstones English links We will be writing stories related to the Stone Age and using our book ‘Stone Boy’ as inspiration. We will be travelling back in time to the Stone Age and writing letters to the people back at school! We will be writing instructions about how to complete Stone Age tasks such as how to light a fire, how to make a weapon. Term: 1 Autumn Maths links Place value, ordering, rounding, identifying and estimating related to Stone Age ways of counting. Multiplication – word problems linked to Stone Age Addition and subtraction – using mental methods of working out questions related to the Stone Age We will be placing events on a timeline and looking at the different events that shape the history of the Stone Age. We will be looking at life in the Stone Age and how people used cave paintings as a form of communication and evidencing early inventions. We will be looking at comparing and grouping rocks Describe the formation of fossils Look at nutrition through healthy eating and how to relates to our bodies Look at the muscle system of animals and humans We will be looking at the differences over time in the UK between now and during the Stone Age period. Look at the skeleton system of animals and humans Topic SCIENCE COMPUTING RE E-safety – Children will be looking at how to use the internet safely and how detrimental it is to keep personal information safe Use search engines to research different topics (Stone Age) Our school follows the Wakefield agreed syllabus for Religious Education. Children will look at Wakefield in relation to the different religions that are celebrated and the ways they are.
