Submission of Pre-Proposal for a Program in 2018 or 2019
The Institute for Mathematical Sciences (IMS) invites pre-proposals for programs of duration of one to
three months for the period 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019. A pre-proposal is a statement of interest in
organizing a program at the IMS. The pre-proposal should be written using the following format and in
such a way that it is understandable to non-specialists.
1.
Cover Page
Please include the following:
a.
Title of pre-proposal;
b.
Proposed period of program/workshop;
c.
Name(s) and affiliation(s) of author(s);
d.
List the AMS 2010 Subject Classification. http://www.ams.org/msc/msc2010.html
2.
Scientific case for the pre-proposal (not more 4 pages)
a.
Mathematical/scientific background;
b.
Explain how your program will be of international interest as well as of interest or
relevance to the local scientific community;
c.
Explain the role of mathematical sciences in your program;
d.
Possible future directions and developments.
3.
Prospective organizers (and their affiliations)
The final organizing committee should include the authors and involve local and overseas
scientists.

Prospective international visitors/participants (and their affiliations)
5.
Prospective local visitors/participants (and their affiliations)

Top people internationally in this and related areas (and their affiliations)
7.
Outline of Program Structure
a.
Possible theme(s) and sub-themes; please indicate ordering;
b.
Proposed dates of program and tentative dates of tutorials and workshops (The
duration of a program generally ranges from one month to three months. Although the
Institute provides a program structure, it is flexible and the proposed program can be
tailored to specific need under special circumstances.)
c.
For interdisciplinary programs, please indicate how scientists from across the
disciplinary backgrounds involved may benefit from mutual interaction and
collaboration, and how such interactions and/or collaborations are to be brought about
within the program.
8. Bibliography of relevant recent literature
9. List any recent/forthcoming meetings held in IMS and/or worldwide that you are aware of within
the field of your pre-proposal.

Curriculum Vitae
In no more than 1 page per person, please provide the following information on the each of the
authors:
- Name
- Current position
- Academic qualifications
- Research interests
- Recent awards
- Selected publications (not more than 6 relevant publications)
A soft copy of the pre-proposal should be sent to the Director of the Institute at imsdir@nus.edu.sg, not
later than 31 May 2016.
