LEAN/SIX SIGMA SERIES LEAN 100 COURSES 6σ Training focuses on specific lean/six sigma topics Lean 100 – Waste Identification and Elimination All processes contain a certain amount of wasteful activity. These wastes adversely impact process velocity and productivity. This course teaches participants how to identify, quantify and drive costly wastes out of their current processes. The Fundamental Lean concepts of this course apply to all business/service sectors and have shown substantial financial returns. 3 Hrs Lean 101 – Lean Manufacturing with Simulation This is a hands-on highly interactive course designed to make Lean Manufacturing principals easy to learn and apply. Participants will run, analyze and improve their own air plane factory. This eye opening experience is the gateway to direct improvement and financial gains in their organizations. 3 Hrs Lean 102 – Lean Office with Simulation Many believe that Lean is just for manufacturing. But it is now apparent in today’s business settings that office layouts, as well as transactional processes, all have an inherent amount of waste. This waste stifles performance and drives down customer satisfaction. This course is designed to illustrate just how much improvement can be gained through the implementation of Lean methodologies. Participants will run, analyze & improve their own business office. 6 Hrs Lean 103 – Value Stream Mapping How Lean is your processes? VSM is a Lean tool that maps the material and information flow through your processes. It clearly identifies and quantifies sources of waste and constraints in systems. Participants will learn how to construct a VSM and use it to identify improvement projects. 3Hrs Lean 104 – 5s and Standard Work 5s and standard work are often combined concepts that drive workplace efficiency. This class introduces the concepts of workplace organization methodologies (5s) and gemba methodologies (standard work). Participants will learn how these methodologies help to maintain quality, efficiency, safety and predictability. 3Hrs Lean 105- Systematic Root Cause Analysis This highly interactive course based on the global 8D concept will help any problem solver identify the difference between special and common cause variation, and when to use Six Sigma over other corrective tools. Then using the SRCA tools you will learn how to approach and fix special cause problems using swift and efficient techniques. Multiple case studies will provide you with a comfortable opportunity to learn a new and powerful tool. 6 Hrs Lean 106 – Kaizen Event Kaizen events are highly focused, short-term projects to improve a process. These events utilize Lean principles and quality tools to develop and implement solutions. The usual Kaizen Event takes 2-5 days. Participants in this course will conduct a mini (simulation based) Kaizen event. They will learn the critical steps of planning, implementing and documenting a Kaizen Event. 3Hrs Mini Tab® Software Basics Minitab Statistical Software for quality improvement and data analysis is the recognized statistical tool used for implementing Six Sigma. This course will provide trainees the general knowledge needed to navigate through, insert data, analyze data, and produce graphs and reports in Minitab 16. 6 Hrs For Information Contact: Jeff Bright, Assistant to President, Director, Business & Industry336-506-4207 jeffrey.bright@alamancecc.edu Sheila Bissette Administrative Assistant, 336-506-4151, sheila.bissette@alamancecc.edu
