The Premier Exhibitor program consists of an Educational Workshop and Field Day, a Skill-a-Thon,
Showmanship, an Educational Poster contest, Record Book Scores and General Knowledge Test. In addition,
the “Blue Ribbon Exhibitor” awards will be based on these points as well as factoring in the results of the
record book competition.
Each year this program offers two learning opportunities for both 4-H and FFA members. The first opportunity
is an educational workshop. During this workshop students are presented with information based off of the
Florida State Fair Skill-A-Thon Manuals. Species covered during this workshop include beef cattle, swine and
lambs. The second learning opportunity offered is the Hoof Trimming and Showmanship field day. During this
field day students can learn proper hoof trimming skills, showmanship skills, and grooming skills.
SHOWMANSHIP
Showmanship points are based on how well the exhibitor performs in their showmanship class. Participation is
showmanship is not mandatory to compete in Premier Exhibitor. However, those who do not compete in
showmanship will not earn any points in this category.
EDUCATIONAL POSTER
The Educational Poster Contest is a poster on an issue that pertains to your livestock project that you, the
exhibitor, have created. The points will be based on the following: 5 points for creativity, 5 points for
educational value, and 5 points for industry significance. These posters are mandatory and are due at the
exhibitors meeting.
SKILL-A-THON
The Skill-a-Thon is a “hands-on” activity used to test your knowledge of basic skills that you should develop
through the completion of your livestock project. Materials developed for this section of Premier Exhibitor
come from the Florida State Fair Skill-A-Thon manuals.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS TEST
The General Knowledge Skills test will be used to measure your knowledge on the completion of your record
book, general livestock knowledge and other materials presented at the educational workshop and/or
included in your study manual. You may use a simple function calculator for this portion of the competition.

Specie Blue Ribbon Winners
Winners are exhibitors who have earner the highest points in a specific species.
 Beef Cattle: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
 Swine: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
 Lambs: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
Overall Premier Exhibitor Blue Ribbon Winners
Winners are exhibitors who have earned the highest points overall thru out the entire competition.
