Academics are constantly challenged to breakdown silos and engage
constituencies in other departments, fields, institutions, countries, and

to provide critical policy and strategic recommendations to stakeholders across
these dimensions. The panelists will discuss their experiences working in these
areas through interdisciplinary research teams, academic/corporate partnerships,

C. Gender in Business Schools: Views from the White House and Paths to
Creating Opportunity
Campus Center, third floor, Ballroom C
In early August of this year, business school deans and business leaders convened in
Washington DC with the Council of Economic Advisors and the White House Committee
on Women and Girls to discuss and advance a series of “best practices” that will lead to
expanded opportunities for women in business while preparing all students for a 21rst
century workplace. Challenges were identified in four key areas: ensuring access to
business school and business careers; building a business school environment that
prepares students for the workforce of tomorrow; ensuring career services that go
beyond the needs of traditional students; and, exemplifying how organizations should
be run. This panel discussion highlights the concerns related to unconscious bias and
inclusion as institutionalized in business school culture, engaging all participants in a
discussion around key strategies for running business schools and impacting workforce
development.

Campus Center, third floor, Ballroom B
Campus Center, third floor, Ballroom C
One of the advantages of small regional conferences is an opportunity to
“deep dive” into issues of mutual interest and network with colleagues and
potential partners. Our final concurrent sessions are designed as “breakouts”
for networking, information exchange and opportunities to discuss best
practices among colleagues of deans, associate deans/program directors and
professional staff. Designated discussion leaders will help organize breakouts
with opportunities to continue discussion and provide time for colleagues to
go into depth over topics emerging from earlier sessions. Tables will be set
up in the Ballroom with Table Tents and Discussion Leaders to encourage
continued dialogue around the conversations at NEBDA 2015
Conference Ends at noon on Friday, September 25
