MINERALS ADVISORY GROUP, LLC ROGER A. NEWELL REGISTRATION Registered Professional Geologist, South Carolina, #395 EDUCATION Ph.D., Mineral Exploration, Stanford University, 1974 Dissertation Topic: Exploration Geology and geochemistry of the Tombstone District Cochise County, Arizona. A mining district study supported by The Anaconda Company and by Placer-Amex. Henry DeWitt Smith Award, 1973 – 1974, for outstanding scholarship AIME's Evan Just Award for the most outstanding Berkeley/Stanford graduate student M.Sc., Economic Geology, Colorado School of Mines, 1971 Thesis Topic: Geology and geochemistry of the Northern Drum Mountains, Juab County, Utah. A caldera exploration thesis supported by The Anaconda Company. B.Sc., Geology, University of Oregon, Eugene, 1965 Emphasis in mineral exploration and mining geology. QUALIFICATIONS Responsible for world-class gold discoveries and mineral property development. Works closely with leaders, including CEO's in the exploration and mining community. Strong leadership and management skills and works well in multi-disciplinary environments. Achievements include doctorate in mineral exploration, record of major exploration discoveries, negotiating joint ventures, resolution of major legal disputes, mineral property acquisitions and managing budgets exceeding $10 million. EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS 1997 – Present, Minerals Advisory Group, LLC, Principal Consulting company providing advisory and appraisal services to mining companies, governments and financial institutions. 1996 – Present, Independent Consulting Geologist 1989 – 1995, Gold Fields Mining Company, Exploration Manager Discovered major multi-million ounce gold deposit in Nevada. Planned and directed exploration in the United States for new mineral deposits with an emphasis on gold. Implemented, planned and directed all aspects of pre-development programs at Mule Canyon, Nevada and Elkhorn, Montana. Pre-development programs at Mule Canyon and Elkhorn required coordinating all environmental activities, engineering studies, including reserve calculations, electric power supplies, metallurgical, environmental, land-legal and governmental reporting requirements along with all other project activities. Successfully, identified, discovered and managed exploration on gold targets through six regional exploration offices. Responsible for identifying major corporate acquisition opportunities. Performed mineral appraisals and evaluations on district, regional and national scales. Managed Gold Field's technical team during three years of intense legal proceedings involving the Pipeline gold deposit, Nevada. Worked closely with attorneys, expert witnesses and consultants involving economic evaluation studies, mining and metallurgical engineering evaluations, ore reserve calculations, permitting and environmental studies. 1977 – 1989, Newmont Mining Corporation, Danbury, CT and Tucson, AZ, Exploration Manager/Senior Geologist Managed exploration, property acquisition, environmental compliance, and development work throughout the eastern U.S. Formulated programs which identified important gold exploration targets in the southeastern U.S. Successfully explored for industrial minerals including aggregates, clays, talc and limestone. Recognized Carlin Trend potential and encouraged Newmont to re-staff for new Nevada exploration programs that led to the discovery of major gold operations yielding over 1,000,000 ounces per year. Identified key personnel to staff Newmont's new programs. Led gold exploration team in southern California, which discovered a gold property that developed into a medium-sized mine. 1974 – 1977, Kennecott Copper Corporation, Salt Lake City, Utah and Silver City, New Mexico Explored for volcanogenic massive sulfides in "Island Arc" geologic terrains of Haiti, West Indies and identified gold ore body. Explored for porphyry molybdenum exploration at Questa, New Mexico that led to development and production from a new molybdenum ore body. Increased reserves at Kennecott's Chino Mine, Silver City, New Mexico through detailed porphyry copper and copper skarn mapping. 1969 – 1974, Exploration Geologist, part-time while working on M.Sc. and Ph.D. Degrees. 1972 – 1974, Placer-Amex District evaluation to locate and expand gold/silver reserves in Crescent Valley, NV and Tombstone, AZ. 1969 – 1971, The Anaconda Company Geological and geochemical studies at Tombstone defined a new mineralized center. Field mapping and geochemical sampling in the Drum Mountain, UT caldera located gold, lead, zinc and beryllium mineralization. Field mapping in the Twin Buttes, AZ area; identified a new porphyry copper prospect. 1965 – 1968, Malaysian Geological Survey, Malaysia, Geologist First American geologist to work for Malaysian Geological Survey. Explored for precious metals and alluvial tin deposits. AFFILIATIONS Roger A.
