This course introduces the principles and concepts of biology. Emphasis is placed on basic biological
chemistry, cell structure and function, metabolism and energy transformation, genetics, evolution,
classification, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate
understanding of life at the molecular and cellular levels. This course has been approved to satisfy the
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in natural
science/mathematics.
CIS 110
Introduction to Computers
Computer Basics CTE pathway
Late start, 2:10-4:10 pm, TTH; or On-line
This course introduces computer concepts, including fundamental functions and operations of the
computer. Topics include identification of hardware components, basic computer operations, security
issues, and use of software applications. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an
understanding of the role and function of computers and use the computer to solve problems. Microsoft
Office will be used in this course; this includes Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. This course has
been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education elective
requirement.

Introduction to Programming and Logic
Computer Basics CTE Pathway

This course introduces computer programming and problem solving in a structured program logic
environment. Topics include language syntax, data types, program organization, problem solving
methods, algorithm design, and logic control structures. Upon completion, students should be able to
manage files with operating system commands, use top-down algorithm design, and implement
algorithmic solutions in a programming language. This course has been approved to satisfy the
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education elective requirement.

This course provides instruction and experience in preparation and delivery of speeches within a public
setting and group discussion. Emphasis is placed on research, preparation, delivery, and evaluation of
informative, persuasive, and special-occasion public speaking. Upon completion, students should be
able to prepare and deliver well-organized speeches and participate in group discussion with
appropriate audiovisual support. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive
Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in speech/communications.

alternatives in order to efficiently achieve economic objectives. This course has been approved to satisfy

This course is the required first course in a series of two designed to develop the ability to produce clear
expository prose. Emphasis is placed on the writing process including audience analysis, topic selection,

produce unified, coherent, well-developed essays using standard written English. This course has been
approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in

This is the first of two courses designed to emphasize topics which are fundamental to the study of
calculus. Emphasis is placed on equations and inequalities, functions (linear, polynomial, rational),
systems of equations and inequalities, and parametric equations. Upon completion, students should be
able to solve practical problems and use appropriate models for analysis and predictions. This course
has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core
requirement in natural science/mathematics. MAT 171A is a laboratory for MAT 171. Emphasis is placed
on experiences that enhance the materials presented in the class. Upon completion, students should be
able to solve problems, apply critical thinking, work in teams, and communicate effectively. This course
has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement premajor and/or elective

students should be able to solve practical problems and use appropriate models for analysis and
prediction. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general

mathematics. MAT 172A is a laboratory for MAT 172. Emphasis is placed on experiences that enhance

This course provides an examination of the various psychological disorders, as well as theoretical,
clinical, and experimental perspectives of the study of psychopathology. Emphasis is placed on
terminology, classification, etiology, assessment, and treatment of the major disorders. Upon
completion, students should be able to distinguish between normal and abnormal behavior patterns as
well as demonstrate knowledge of etiology, symptoms, and therapeutic techniques.
