internal scholarships
3 Main Scholarship Categories:
1. Partners 36 – these are scholarships given to the district and awarded to Surrey School
District students
a. Scholarships are listed on the school district website: www.surreyschools.ca
(follow links to student services, scholarships, Partners 36 scholarships)
b. LAM Scholarship committee reviews the applications and forwards most worthy
candidate for each scholarship to a district selection committee. LAM is allowed
to forward one application per scholarship to the district for consideration
c. Refer to the selection criteria for each individual scholarship
d. Deadline for submission: Early April (date yet to be determined)
2. Dogwoods – these are ministry of education funded scholarships valued at $1000 each,
allotted to the school based on grade 12 enrollment
a. These are non-academic scholarships for excellence in:
i. Fine Arts (Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, Music)
ii. Applied Skills ( Business Education, Technology, Home Economics,
Textiles)
iii. Physical Activity ( Athletics, Teams)
iv. Second Languages ( Spanish, French, Punjabi, ELL)
b. Selection will be based on applicant merit, minimum 3 years (grades 10 – 12) of
demonstrated achievement in applicable area and teacher recommendation
based on achievement and school conduct
c. Application deadline: May (date yet to be determined)
3. LAM Scholarships – money given directly to the school to distribute to LAM students
a. Categories:
i. Academics
ii. Athletics
iii. Citizenship – outstanding school/community service
iv. Leadership – demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities
v. Fine, Performing and Visual Arts – Art, Info Tech, Drama, Theatre, Video
production, Photography, Music
b. Selection will be based on applicant merit, minimum 3 years (grades 10 – 12) of
achievement and/or service, and overall school conduct
c. Applications will be available before Spring break
d. Application deadline: Early April (date yet to be determined)
