JOB SUMMARY:
To shape Universities UK’s event output by researching and developing content for national higher education events, including conferences, seminars and roundtables. Working closely with UUK policy and communications teams and with external partners this role is responsible for proactively developing relationships with new speakers, sponsors and partners and to ensure UUK events feature content and speakers that the target audience most want to hear from.
Main responsibilities
(i) Developing compelling and engaging agendas for conference and events – researching the issues, identifying speakers and taking advice from colleagues in
UUK’s policy and communications teams and advice from external partners.
(ii) Inviting speakers to UUK events and liaising with them throughout the event process developing and cultivating relationships.
(iii) Growing sponsorship opportunities for the UUK’s events. Work with the Head of
Events and Conferences to research new leads, diversify sponsorship opportunities and strengthen existing relationships with sponsors.
(iv) Generating ideas for new revenue-generating conferences, encouraging colleagues
(v) and partners to develop new ideas.
Researching and developing beneficial new partnership opportunities for events.
(vi) Researching potential conference topics and testing the feasibility of developing ideas into commercially viable events.
(vii) Providing advice as appropriate to colleagues across the organisation concerning feasibility of event ideas, the events planning process and advice on external sponsorship opportunities.
(viii) Writing marketing briefs and copy, identifying target markets and potential audience make up.
(ix) Making approaches to organisations for sponsorship, partnerships and joint projects.
Cultivating and developing these relationships to encourage repeat sponsorship and
(x) stronger long-term partnerships.
Assisting in any event planning, pre-event logistics, as well as onsite and post-event management.
(xi) Introducing innovations to enhance the quality and impact of Universities UK’s events activity – revenue-generating national higher education conferences, stakeholder engagement events and political events.
(xii) Working with the Head of Events and Conferences to develop and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the impact of events - both financial
(xiii) Working with others in the Events team develop a highly professional events management service for the organisation performance and delegates and sponsor experience.
