Drinks $1.00-Join the fun in the Titan Tailgate Zone near the Stadium Ticket Booths
before we take on Davie HS in Varsity Football @ 7:30!
GENERAL
1. STAFF ON STAGE: Staff Talent Show!
Thursday Oct 30th @ 7pm in the PAC- $5.00 Admission. Proceeds go to the purchase
of a $15,000 Laptop Cart for all student's use. Tickets will go on sale the week of
October 27th.
2. What is the maximum number of non-overlapping 3 inch squares that will fit inside a square
with 6 inch sides? If you know the answer to this, then we need you for the Math ACE
team! A sheet will be posted outside of room 401 for you to list your info. Practice will
start in November and our first match will be December 3rd at Mt Tabor.
3. All Youth & Government students need to register online for the Conference. Students need
to go to the library at one of the following times: Wed. or Fri. am, Thur. or Fri. pm. Officers
will be in the library and will help with questions.
4. Please bring your old and used eyeglasses to school and donate them for a worth
cause. Girls Service Club is sponsoring this drive through November 15th. There are
drop off spots in the Dance Studio and Library circulation desk. The glasses will be sent to
underprivileged countries.
5. West Wear will be sold this Friday, 10/17, in the lobby in front of the cafeteria during all 3
lunch periods. Also, come to our homecoming football game on Friday and purchase your
West Forsyth stadium chair for just $40.
GUIDANCE
1. Representatives from the following universities will be visiting our campus in October. Please
mark your calendars and visit them and receive important information.


Campbell University - Thursday, October 23, Café Lobby 12:00 - 2:00
Vanderbilt University – Monday, October 27, Café Lobby 12:30 – 1:15
2. All Students-The American Legion Post #522 is sponsoring the American Legion High
School Oratorical Scholarship Program. This is “A Constitutional Speech Contest” to
develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the
part of the high school students. A contestant must give both their oration and the assigned
topic discourse in order to receive the scholarship. Interested students must have their
completed oration to guidance by Tuesday, November 25th . For more information please
come the Guidance office or go to www.legion.org/oratorical .
3. A Career Symposium will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 8:30AM-11:00AM at
Forsyth Tech’s West Campus Auditorium, 1300 Bolton Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. This is a
collaboration between the North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals - Triad Chapter and The
International Center of Forsyth Tech. The Career Symposium is for current Latino high school
students and their parents. The symposium will bring together Hispanic professionals from various
fields to answer student questions about their careers paths, the required education and preparation,
and the joys & challenges of their jobs. Pre-registration is required. Students may call (336) 734- 7984
to register by phone.
4. Extended Day Sign Ups – Students (11th & 12th) especially 12th graders needing to make
up courses failed for graduation can sign up in guidance now. Please make an appointment to
meet with your counselor. The Extended Day Program will start 2nd quarter (Nov 03, 2014
thru Jan 13, 2015). No transportation will be provided. The hours are 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The deadline for signing up is Friday, October 24, 2014.
5. The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics will offer an admissions
presentation on Wednesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. in the Rural Hall Library
Auditorium. Please call the admissions office at (919) 416-2850, or contact
andrew.huggins@ncssm.edu for more information.

6. There will be an event for “Native Spanish Speaking Students for Higher Education”
Presenter Donna Weaver from CFNC Foundation will have information on planning,
applying, and paying for college. The event will be in the auditorium of North Forsyth High
school, on Thursday, November 6th at 6:00.
JUNIORS
1. ATTENTION JUNIORS-If you do not want to have your name released to the 2014-2015
Military List please come by the guidance office and inform us by Friday, October 17. If you do
not sign up to be excluded, the military will be given your name and contact information.
2. Juniors - all students who submitted an application to serve on JCC and plan the 2015 prom
should check their email for an announcement from Mrs. Harvey.
SENIORS
1. ATTENTION SENIORS-If you do not want to have your name released to the 2014-2015 Military
List please come by the guidance office and inform us by Friday, October 17. If you do not sign up
to be excluded, the military will be given your name and contact information.
SPORTS
TITAN Inter-Club Council
1. DATE UPDATE- INTERACT will be participating in Clemmons Clean up on October
18, 2014. Check in on the Edmodo group to find out details.
2. There will be a mandatory Science Honor Society meeting on Wednesday, October 22nd
in room 202 at 3:45 pm.
3. National Dance Honor Society- Mandatory meeting for current and new members next
Monday, October 20 at 3:50 in the Dance Studio.
4. GSC please come by Mrs. Crater's office in the PAC and pick up your 3 donor cards and
read the information posted on her window! GSC We are walking or riding in the parade for
homecoming. Please meet me by the PAC when they dismiss number 25! :)
5. Titan Greens Reminder. Clemmons Cleanup is this Saturday, October 18th. We will
meet at the Clemmons Village Hall at 8:00. You will need to bring your waiver forms.

West Forsyth High School PTSA
WIN MONEY BY DONATING MONEY IN OCTOBER!
October is Donation Month at West Forsyth! The PTSA is continuing efforts to raise funds for
the $15,000 Laptop Computer Cart that will be used by each and every student at West
Forsyth. A huge thank you to those of you who have already made a direct donation to West! If
you haven’t had an opportunity yet, it’s not too late!

Everyone making a donation of $20 or more will receive a West Car Magnet (while
supplies last).
Everyone making a donation of $50 or more will be entered into a drawing for a chance to
win one of 5 individual $100 Visa Gift Cards.
The drawing will take place on October 30th during the PTSA sponsored Staff Talent Show
beginning at 7 pm (you do not have to be present to win). The cost to attend the talent show is
$5. Tickets sales begin soon. All those who have already made a donation of $50 or more will
be included in the drawing.
To make a donation, click on the below link to access the PTSA Membership/Direct Donation
form. Fill out the top section with your family information and fill out the “direct donation”
section on the form. Send completed forms along with donation to Darlene Burris in the main
office at West. All $50 donations (or more) turned in by end of day on October 29th will be
entered into the drawing.

Current PTSA Members: If you have not received your PTSA membership cards this year (or
car magnet for making a direct donation to West of $20 or more), please have your child see
Darlene Burris in the Main Office to pick it up. Cards/magnets are in an envelope addressed to
your oldest child attending West.
