Theoretical Philosophy (second-level degree) PROF. MASSIMO MARASSI COURSE AIMS The aim of the course is to study the fundamental aspects of the historical and theoretical structure of Kant’s Critique of Judgement and how it has been reinterpreted in modern-day debate. COURSE CONTENT The system of the critique of reason and purpose of judgement. READING LIST I. KANT, Critica del giudizio, edited by M. MARASSI, Bompiani, Milan, 2014. Students may also use other translations (A. Gargiulo-V. Verra-P. D’Angelo; A. Bosi; L. Amoroso; E. Garroni-H. Hohenegger) of the third Critique. As a general introduction to Kant’s line of thinking, the following would be useful for students: O. HÖFFE, Immanuel Kant, Il Mulino, Bologna, 2010. Students are advised to read one of the following is an introduction to the third Critique: F. MENEGONI, La Critica del Giudizio di Kant. Introduzione alla lettura, Carocci, Rome, 2008. F. SALZA, Lettura della Critica del Giudizio di Kant, Utet, Turin, 1997. The lecture notes for the special subject are available from Blackboard website. TEACHING METHOD The course (30 hours) will be held during the second semester and be taught in lectures with additional theoretical contributions from outside staff. Students are expected to get actively involved. ASSESSMENT METHOD Oral examination. NOTES Students who plan to take the Theoretical Philosophy examination for the second-level degree course must get actively involved in the lectures.
