Buhrke Industries Donates PMA Design Award Cash Prize to Leyden High School Machine Tool
Advisory Council
The Precision Metalworking Association (PMA) selected Buhrke Industries LLC as the recipient of the
2006 R.D. Pritchard-Higgins Design Award. The design award recognizes a manufacturing company for
outstanding achievement in developing an innovative product design and is one of eight Awards of
Excellence in Metalworking presented annually at the PMA sponsored METALFORM Conference. A
$1,500 cash prize is part of the award.
Buhrke Industries arranged to donate the cash prize to the Leyden High School Machine Tool Advisory
Council in support of the school’s metalworking skills training program. East Leyden High School is
located in Franklin Park, IL and runs one of the Chicago Area’s leading trades education programs with
110 students enrolled.
Presenting the check (shown from right to left) are Mr. Ken Wesseln, President of Buhrke Industries and Mr. Mike
Chester, President of IMS Companies LLC, Buhrke’s parent. Holding the check is Mr. Steve Glasder, Director of the
Machine Tool Program. Standing on his right is Dr. Beth Concannon, Principle of East Leyden High School.
