Sundern, September 2013 – SEVERIN is revolutionising the market for fully automatic
coffee machines with its new PICCOLA. This unit isn't inferior to big machines in
functionality, ease of operation or coffee quality. In fact, it's made a name for itself as a
product line. With a suggested retail price of 449.00 Euro, the PICCOLA is one of the
most attractively priced (and compact) fully automatic coffee machines with one-touch
technology on the market.
"After introducing the SEVERIN S2+ Fully Automatic Coffee Machine in 2012, we set
ourselves an ambitious goal as a specialist in the coffee preparation field. We wanted to put
a product on the market which gives as many coffee lovers as possible the chance to enjoy
top-quality espresso and coffee specialities at the push of a button," explained Rudolf
Schulte, Managing Director of SEVERIN. We succeeded with the PICCOLA. It makes
barista-quality espresso, latte macchiato and cappuccino without having to move the cup and
at the push of a button.
For some customers, one-touch fully automatic coffee machines used to be too expensive,
and for others, they were simply too big. The PICCOLA dispels these concerns with a perfect
price-performance ratio and a size which fits in the smallest of kitchens.

"With the PICCOLA, we want to start a peaceful revolution in the kitchen, move the masses a
little and enable many different segments of the population to enjoy excellent coffee in all its
variations," said Sebastian Plothe, Head of Communication and PR, of the marketing
measures being taken to support the introduction of the new fully automatic coffee machine.
The communication is smartly bold, loud and eye-catching, it's originating from relatively
small groups (bloggers and reviewers) and it's increasing, from the relevant portals to
advertisements in specialised media to widely circulated consumer media. Shops will offer a
host of product demonstrations across Germany, which will allow end customers to
experience the easy and intuitive operation of the machine on location and try barista-quality
coffee.
SEVERIN PICCOLA: so big, yet so small
228 x 316 x 387 mm speaks for itself. These are the dimensions of the PICCOLA, which
make it one of the most compact fully automatic coffee machines available on the market.
Even some pod and capsule machines are larger and take up more space. In spite of its
small size, the PICCOLA has everything you need to prepare perfect coffee. Key data show
just how big small can be: 1,600 watts, a 140 g bean container fill volume and a 1.35-litre
water tank. That's enough power and capacity for anyone's coffee enjoyment. The PICCOLA
is also extremely versatile with regard to the specialities it can create and the matching cups
or glasses that go with them. The coffee/milk spout "grows" as the tasks grow and can be
adjusted vertically between 65 and 135 mm.
Intuitive operation and a unique hygiene system
The PICCOLA from SEVERIN prepares your personal favourite coffee in the blink of an eye
and increases your anticipation for the next cup, as it makes your work easier and ensures
good hygiene when it comes to care and cleaning. The patented brewing unit can be
removed and rinsed under water. The coffee/milk spout, container for coffee grinds and drip
tray are dishwasher safe. In addition, the integrated rinsing, cleaning and descaling functions

With the PICCOLA, getting great flavour tailored to your personal taste is child's play. The
high-contrast, full-graphic display shows all the functions at a glance and in your choice of 12
different languages. The coffee, water and milk-foam quantities can be set to one of three
levels as desired, and the quick-selection feature allows you to set your personal favourites
in a flash. The high-performance pump and ceramic disk grinder, which features five
grinding-fineness settings, ensure superb portafilter-quality cream and creamy milk foam.
One-touch operation creates perfect cappuccino, latte macchiato and café latte without
having to move the glass or cup.
Frugal in energy consumption
The PICCOLA from SEVERIN not only stands out thanks to its variety of functions, but also
due to its outstanding energy efficiency. It boasts a power-saving automatic switch-off feature
which can be set from 1 minute to 12 hours as desired. This means that power is only flowing
while a beverage is being prepared. Thanks to this new automatic power-saving feature, the
amount of energy saved surpasses the level specified by the Swiss energy label for "Energy
Efficiency Class A".
Models and prices
Sales of three different models of the PICCOLA will begin in October 2013. The PICCOLA
Classica [KV 8055], a black unit with silver-painted function buttons, is available in shops for
a suggested retail price of 449.00 Euro. The PICCOLA Premium, featuring chrome-plated
function buttons and a stainless-steel milk container which keeps 0.5 litres cool for five hours,
is offered in black and silver [KA 8061] or black and red [KA 8062] for the suggested retail
price of 499.00 Euro.
