Barnard Delegation Representative to the Seven Sisters Coalition Coordinating Board 2013-14 Mission: “The mission of the Coordinating Board of the Seven Sisters Coalition shall be to promote the coordination of academic, cultural, and social activities among current and graduated students of the historic Seven Sisters: Barnard College, Bryn Mawr College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Vassar College, and Wellesley College.” The Seven Sisters Coalition was founded in Fall of 2011 to coordinate the activities of the historic schools, their student governments, and their student bodies to facilitate conversations and to provide a network for the historic Seven Sisters. Members: Barnard seeks three to four representatives who will collectively satisfy these qualifications: 1. The Representative for College Relations will serve as a sitting representative for Barnard on the Coordinating Board. 2. An SGA Executive Board member, to be selected internally, will serve as a representative for Barnard as stipulated in the Coordinating Board constitution. 3. One to two members who do not hold elected positions on Representative Council and have leadership experience outside of SGA. Members should vary in terms of class year, conference attendance and campus involvement and expect to serve for at least one academic year. Responsibilities: • Recruit Barnard representatives for the upcoming Seven Sisters Conference in the Fall of 2013 at Vassar College • Participate in three virtual conversations each semester with representatives of the Seven Sisters Coordinating Board. • Communicate weekly with fellow Barnard Board representatives. • Gather and disseminate information pertinent to students of historic women’s colleges • The Board is collectively responsible for the following activities: a. Alumni outreach b. Public relations c. Website management Appointments Process: Your application for this position will be considered by the Student Government Association's Appointments Committee. This committee acts as an advisory board to the SGA Representative Council, advising whom to appoint to SGA committee positions. This is a secret committee; the identity of all members is kept anonymous in order to allow for critical and honest recommendations of candidates for SGA. Your application will be considered anonymously. Once the committee has reviewed all applications, they will make recommendations to the SGA Representative Council. The SGA Representative Council will vote on the recommendations of the Appointments Committee at the SGA Representative Council meeting at 8pm on Monday, September 23.
