CPA-HPP Treasurer’s Report Zhipeng Gao CPA Convention 2014, Vancouver, BC HPP Section -Business Meeting June 7th, 1:30pm-3:25pm Balance Sheet Since the convention in the Québec city last year we had the following withdraws from HPP’s account: $100 for the Mary Wright Award and $ 45.42 for the website hosting. That’s $145.42 in total. We currently have $ 2656.76 available (as of May 27, 2014). This is $542.57 more than we had at the same time last year ($2,114.19 as of April 30, 2013, which is $250.59 less than we had at the same time on April 30, 2012). Membership We have received $687.75 in membership dues since May, 2013 ($127.50 in 2013 and $560.25 in 2014). Points to Raise: We have a significant increase in membership – from 69 to 83. Congratulations and thanks to Laura and others’ efforts! We might identify strategies that have effectively raised the membership and continue using them. We received generous donation from Richard Walsh, Thomas Teo and Angelina Baydala out of the royalty of their newly published textbook A Critical History and Philosophy of Psychology. The royalty donation agreement has been made but it has not yet been deposited to our account. We need to consider how to make use of our money to promote the development of our field and community. This year we have $ 2656.76 available (as of May 27, 2014); this is $542.57 more than we had at the same time last year. Given that we have the Mary Wright Best Student Paper covered by the fund donated by Mary Wright, and that we are going to receive the royalty donation mentioned above, we will have 500 – 700 dollars at our disposal without reducing our savings. What initiatives can we make such amount of money? Laura proposes that maybe we can set up an award, for instance, a dissertation award, Early Career award, or Lifetime Achievement award.
