ENGO 465 Sessional Instructor Opportunity
The Department of Geomatics Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering invites applications for
a Term-Certain Sessional Instructor for the following course:
ENGO 465 – Satellite Positioning
Session: Winter 2016
Lecture: Tuesday, Thursday, 09:30 – 10:45
Lab: Tuesday 14:00 – 16:50
Course Description: Satellite orbit motion and Kepler's laws. Description of GPS signal structure and
derivation of observables. Characteristics of instrumentation. Analysis of atmospheric, orbital and other
random and non-random effects. Derivation of mathematical models used for absolute and differential
static and kinematic positioning. Pre-analysis methods and applications. Concept of Kalman filtering
applied to kinematic positioning. Ambiguity resolution procedures. Differential GNSS implementation.
Overview of other GNSS augmentation and high-sensitivity receivers. Introduction to inertial navigation
Qualifications: Candidates with a completed doctoral degree in engineering and registered as a
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the province of Alberta are strongly preferred. Applicants must possess
excellent teaching credentials and a strong commitment to engineering education.
