It has become, however, a separate competitive group of its own. As such, each group rehearses a competition show and performs during the months of January through March. Expectations and Goals The ultimate goal for each program is to enhance skill for the fall marching band. The primary competitive goal for Winter Guard is to achieve a Gold rating at Divisional Finals. The primary goal for Winter Percussion is to advance to State Finals. To achieve this goal 100% attendance is required. Requirements to participate Attendance Because these groups are competitive, 100% attendance is expected at all times. No excuses will be accepted, however communication of any absence is required by the parent PRIOR to the rehearsal. The following rules will be strictly adhered to throughout the season. The only illnesses acceptable to keep a student from rehearsal is that of a school day absence prior to or immediately following the rehearsal. The absence still must be communicated to Mr. Munoz PRIOR to the rehearsal. Any other absence must be communicated to Mr. Munoz PRIOR to the rehearsal. Failure to do so will result in removal from the ensemble without refund. Any absence immediately disqualifies a student from performing for the upcoming performance. o A student may become eligible to perform for the upcoming performance if an absence because of illness that meets the above requirements is made up. Make up work must be requested by the student within Page 1 24 hours of the absence and must be completed by Friday 5:00 p.m. of that week. All make up work is assigned by Mr. Munoz. o A student missing a rehearsal for any reason other than illness is not eligible to compete in the upcoming performance. Exceptions may be made in the circumstances of bereavement. Fees Because of the progressive and competitive nature of each program, it is necessary to assess fees to participate in our winter activities. It is imperative that all families stay current on their assessments. The total cost to participate is $275.00 per student. A student’s SBA account must read below $50.00 to be able to enroll in winter activities (or proof of fundraising that would eliminate the SBA balance by November 30th). $75 deposit due November 30th $100 payment due December 18th $100 payment due January 18th A student will not be admitted to practices until the $75 deposit is paid and the agreement form is turned in. A student will be removed from practices if their account is 10 days past due A student will be removed from the program if the account is 20 days past due. Attitude Students should understand that staff and parents are voluntarily participating in an event that creates a positive opportunity for their well-being. Students are expected to carry themselves with the highest of professional standards. Schedule A separate calendar for each group is available online and in paper. Page 2 Winter Percussion and Guard Commitment Form The East Noble Winter Percussion and Winter Guard are an active performing ensemble that practices from November through March. In addition to continued study of advanced instrumental, weapon techniques, and musicianship, this group is an active ensemble with many performing opportunities to utilize these acquired skills. By returning this form, you understand that a commitment has been made to: 1) all other members of the program, 2) that you will strive to always do your best and have an incredible attitude that promotes positive learning and 3) that you will be in attendance during ALL practices and performances.
