Acoustic and Electric Guitar Tuition JLG GUITAR LESSONS - TERMS AND CONDITIONS – 2010/2011 (Please sign and return this copy) These “terms and conditions” are to clarify issues such as payment, cancellation of lessons, lesson duration, lesson content etc.. Please read the terms and conditions and sign and date the form below. By signing this form I will take it you accept the terms and conditions of your guitar tuition. I reserve the right to review or to change these “terms and conditions” at the most once per year – this may include annual price changes, cancellation policy details etc… If you have any queries please do no hesitate to let me know and we can discuss any issues you may have at the start of your tuition. PAYMENT FOR LESSONS: Lessons at present must be paid in advance every 4 weeks (on the 4th lesson to cover the following 4 week session) Lessons will be arranged at a mutually agreeable time. Prices for lessons at present are £20.00 per hour, per student – this may also be increasing towards end of 2010/start of 2011 – (I will let all students know at least 4 weeks in advance if this is the case). LESSON DURATION: Lessons are usually weekly. (On the very rare occasion they may also be held fortnightly if a suitable time slot can be organised). Lessons usually last for 1 hour – though if you prefer we can shorten you’re lessons to 45 minutes or 30 minutes – please let me know if you want to avail of this option and we can organise a suitable time or discuss the details Prices will reflect the shorter lessons i.e, ½ hour lesson 45min lesson = £10.00 per student (at present) =£16.00 “ “ (at present) Lessons for younger students i.e, 7–10 years will last for 30 mins. (Due to this age group I feel 30 mins a lesson is usually long enough) CANCELLATION OF LESSONS I require all students to give at least 24 hours notice of cancellation of lessons either by telephone, text, of if I’m not available, leaving a message on my home number/answering machine, email cancellations are acceptable if sent at least 48 hours in advance cancellation of any lesson at short notice or in the event that the student has no contact with me at all, will result in the student losing their prepaid fee for that lesson. If for any reason I have to cancel a lesson, if possible, I will give plenty of notice (at least 24 hours) The cancelled lesson (if already prepaid) will automatically be “carried forward” to the following week or be “made up” at a later date/time mutually agreed. If I am contacted by a student who cancels last minute (i.e, the same day of their lesson) I may contact the next student/time slot of the day and ask if they would like to come earlier – if this does not suit for whatever reason; then the lesson will go ahead at the original pre-arranged time. Weekly Lessons: Students can have 1 cancellation in 1 month or (4 week period) - any more than that will result in any extra cancelled lesson/s within that period - being charged for. If you are leaving lessons the above is not applicable (please see the point below – Leaving Dropping Out Of Lessons). Fortnightly Lessons: Students that only have 2 lessons per month may have 1 cancellation per - 8 week period any more than that will result in any extra cancelled lesson/s within that period - being charged for. HOLIDAY/S At holiday times I would appreciate as much notice as possible of planned holidays etc.. I understand that most people will take a holiday over the course of the year. Students can take 2 weeks away from lessons but any further missed lessons must be charged for as this means keeping a slot open for a further week (or more possibly ) I cannot fill time slots for only one or two lessons. . Likewise I will advise all students of my holidays well in advance where possible. LEAVING/DROPPING OUT OF LESSONS If you feel you do not want to continue with lessons I would appreciate as much notice as possible letting me know that you will leaving i.e, 2 weeks notice as (depending on waiting lists etc…at that time) it may take some time to fill that time slot. It is only fair that myself and potential students are given as much notice as possible to prepare for their lessons. If less than 2 weeks notice is given any remaining pre-paid balance on lessons will be lost. (As students have left in the past without any notice at all; this is in place to make sure I do not lose wages as a result of people dropping out of lessons unexpectedly). HOLDING SLOTS OPEN Unfortunately I will not be able to hold slots open for longer than 2 weeks (unless a deposit is paid (mutually agreed) to cover a longer period to a maximum of 4 weeks). As I hope you can appreciate this is not practical and has also caused a lot of confusion in the past with students being unsure of when they actually will be returning again for various reasons i.e, exam pressure, long/extended summer holidays etc… CONTENT OF LESSONS: At your first lesson I will try to find out exactly what you want from your learning i.e, musical tastes, style of guitar playing etc.. Lessons will be “tailored” to suit each students musical likes etc.. where possible, though I will also be offering advice and songs/musical ideas which I feel will progress the student further – all songs/topics covered will be mutually agreed. All written sheet music, tabs etc.. are included in the fee for each lesson. EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Though this may be obvious it is advisable to bring your own guitar with you to lessons – reason being this is the instrument you will be practising on at home/outside lessons and progress can be gauged better during your lessons. Each student should have a folder to keep all written tabs, music etc.. I would advise all students to buy a guitar tuner to help with their practice at home. I can advise on this. I have full resources i.e, amps, guitar effects etc… to cover both acoustic and electric guitar; for electric guitarists, please just bring a lead with you. I would ask that all students are aware of everything in the above and that they keep this contract in a safe place, so that any future confusion over missed lessons etc.. can be avoided. If there is anything you need clarified regarding these terms and conditions please do not hesitate to discuss with me.
