Munster T & F Championships: 2 of our Juvenile athletes travelled to Cork IT on last weekend for the Munster
Juvenile Track & Field Championships. On Saturday Niamh Ryan competed in the U12 600m putting in a very strong
performance in her heat to finish 2nd in a time of 1.57 which qualified her for the final which took place later on in
the day. 12 athletes took to the line for the final which was run at a blistering pace and Niamh finished 8th overall in
what was a very competitive field which included Sophie O’Sullivan (Sonia’s daughter) who finished 4th. Niamh also
competed in Long Jump on Sunday and although not successful on the day she put in a great performance – well
done Niamh. Also on Sunday, Jack Hickey competed in the U12 600m and although putting in a good performance in
his heat finishing 5th he unfortunately did not qualify for the final – well done Jack.
Moyne Olympic Mile: The Olympic Mile event to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Flame in Ireland took place in
Moyne on Wednesday evening last. 48 local people participated in the event which commenced at Martin Ryans,
Moynetemple and finished in Moyne Sportsfield where each participant received a certificate of achievement and
also enjoyed some very welcome refreshments which were kindly prepared by Imelda Flynn. This was a very
enjoyable occasion and we thank those who participated and particularly those who helped out in anyway.
County ‘B’ Track & Field: The County Tipperary ‘B’ Track & Field Championships will take place on Saturday next
June 16th in Templemore commencing at 1pm. The following athletes are eligible to take part: Niall & Jack Moore,
Roisin & Laura Daly, Kate Leahy, Erica Carroll, Sarah Jane McCormack, Jake Bowe, Aaron McLoughlin, Adam Butler,
Philip Hayes, Blake Power, Aaron McNamara, Ellen Maher, Armand Schoeman, Conor Flynn, John McCormack, Ryan
Egan, Ciaran Lloyd, Dylan McLoughlin, Aisling Hickey, Rachel Cleary, Helen Cleere, Louise Hickey & Emma Dunphy.

Munster U14 – U19 T & F: This event will take place in Cork IT on Saturday June 30th and Sunday July 1st. The
following athletes have been entered – Niall Walsh, Ciara Cummins and Orla Healy – best of luck to you all.
All Ireland Schools T & F Championships: Well done to Ciara Cummins and Orla Healy who competed at this event
which took place recently in Tullamore – Ciara finished 7th in the Intermediated Girls 3000m recording a time of
11.24.04 and both Ciara & Orla were part of the Ursuline, Thurles Relay Team which finished 7th – well done girls.
Special Olympics: Well done to 2 of our athletes which competed so well at the Munster Special Olympics qualifiers
which were held on Saturday last in Waterford IT. Aisling Maher was 1st in the 1500m in a time of 6.55 and also
finished 1st in Javelin recording 9m 11cm and Niall Walsh finished 1st in Shot and 1st in 400m – well done and
congratulations to your both on a wonderful achievement.
Summer Camp: Our 2nd Annual 3 Day Athletics Summer Camp will take place on July 19th to 21st, national Long Jump
Coach Jackie Freyne will be in attendance on one of the days to demonstrate and share her expertise on Long Jump.
Full details of camp will be published next week and entry forms will also be available.

30th & Sunday July 1st – Munster U14 – U19 T & F Championships in Cork IT. Sunday July 22nd – Munster Juvenile “B”
